Arizona’s basketball recruiting scene is buzzing, and a major reason for that is the recent and huge announcement made by Sandra Day O'Connor High School's 6-foot-7, 175-pound senior wing Rylan Parsley. Parsley recently announced on social media in fine fashion that he had committed to Fresno State University - a tremendous commitment for the promising wing prospect. With so many commitments being announced as of late on social media, Parsley's banner showed off his excitement on the photo (attached). Parsley should very extremely excited to now have the opportunity to play mid-major Division-I basketball.
Parsley’s commitment comes as a surprise to many, as he had not previously reported offers at the level of Fresno State. However, his upside, length and athleticism clearly caught the attention of the Bulldogs’ coaching staff - proving once again that late recruiting evaluations can uncover hidden gems.
Parsley caps off a solid senior season in which he played a key role for an O’Connor squad that finished 20-9 overall in Arizona’s highly competitive 6A Division. The Eagles featured one of the more talented and balanced rosters in the state this season, giving Parsley the opportunity to compete alongside high-level talent on a nightly basis. He was part of a loaded group that included 6-foot-5 senior Melvin Stubbs (Sacramento State signee), 6-foot-7 senior Colton Watson (Lehigh University commit) and 6-foot-5 sophomore Terrance Byrd, one of the top young prospects in the state, further highlighting the depth and talent within the program.
Parsley is a long, athletic wing with intriguing potential at the next level. While still developing physically, he possesses the tools that Division-I programs covet. As he continues to add much more physical strength and adjust to the physical demands of the college game, Parsley has the opportunity to maximize his upside and develop into a very productive player at the Division-I level.
His commitment is also a testament to the continued success of the Arizona Select club program, which has consistently helped produce and expose loads of Division-I college talent.
Congratulations to Rylan Parsley and his family on this tremendous accomplishment. Congratulations as well to the Sandra Day O’Connor High School basketball program and Arizona Select for another Division-I signing.
As the spring recruiting period continues, stories like Parsley’s serve as a reminder that development, persistence, and opportunity can align at any moment - especially in a state that continues to prove itself as a national hotbed for basketball talent.
