One of our top overall prospects in Arizona's 2022 Class for girls prospects in the state is off the recruiting board, as skilled PHH Prep's 6-foot rising senior guard prospect Hannah Robbins has found her fit for college. This week, Robbins announced her college decision to attend the University of New Mexico, where she will follow in her father's footsteps at the terrific college basketball program.
Robbins is one of our elite prospects in Arizona's 2022 Class, and she is a sure-fire college talent with a nice overall skill level and size for the collegiate ranks. Robbins has had a strong high school career in the state of Arizona, since moving to the state to attend high school, after living in Albuquerque, New Mexico as a youngster. Robbins' father, Rob Robbins, played college ball for New Mexico and had a strong career for the Lobos. Hannah has advised reporters that she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps by going to New Mexico. Hannah's mother, Jessie Sullivan-Robbins, also played college basketball at Oklahoma Baptist, so her basketball bloodlines are significant.
Robbins was one of the hottest prospects in Arizona's 2022 Class before her commitment to the Mountain West program. Robbins had double-digit offers for herself from such college programs as St. John's, Florida Atlantic, Long Beach State and San Jose State, to name a few. This summer would have been a big recruiting period for Robbins in July, but she did not need to consider other programs, as she knew where she wanted to go - a really nice story for this young lady and her family.
Robbins had a very strong career for Desert Vista High School in her first two seasons with the school - averaging 16.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.1 steals per/contest. In her junior season, Robbins decided to change programs and attend Arizona Elite's Prep Program - competing with many of her Arizona Elite club teammates. Mid-season, Robbins decided to change programs, and suit up for a loaded PHH Prep program, which would win the Grind Session Girl's Championship.
Robbins is a skilled guard prospect with excellent size and has very good versatility on the court - able to play several positions on the floor. She is at her best as a 2,3 and should be able to play as a shooting guard and small forward for New Mexico. She is has a pure shooting stroke with range, which suits her nicely for a perimeter player, and she is able to go inside and post up smaller guards, and is very effective around the basket. She has a high overall skill level and is fundamentally sound. She is a good ball handler that can handle the basketball in the open floor, and is a good passer that sees the floor, and enjoys finding an open teammate on the floor. She is also a strong rebounder from the guard position. She competes hard and plays passing lanes, and also gets her hands on many deflections, and helps create turnovers for her team, which often lead to scoring opportunities on the other end of the floor.
Robbins will continue to play with her loaded PHH Prep girl's program this summer, and help lead their 17U team to a strong summer performance. Robbins will take her official recruiting visit to New Mexico in the fall, and also sign a national letter of intent with New Mexico in the fall as well.
