The 7th Annual Southwest Basketball Showcase, organized by Gregg Rosenberg, is a premier event in the Arizona basketball community that highlights some of the top talent from around the state. The event took place at the PHHacility here in Phoenix, Arizona. Some of the top scouts on the West Coast were in attendance, which included Dinos Trigonis (Pangos All-American Camp), Ronnie Flores (BallisLife), Chad Groth (Area Codes), Anthony Ray (Arizona Preps), Gregg Rosenberg (Prep Hoops), and more. Here are some of the prospects who caught my attention in the short time I was in attendance:
Jamal Ali 2025 6-7 SR Sahuaro High School
Ali stands out as one of my top under-the-radar forward prospects. With his impressive length and athleticism, Ali is a dynamic player capable of scoring efficiently from all three levels of the court—whether it's finishing at the rim, hitting mid-range jumpers, or sinking three-pointers. His exceptional athleticism also translates into solid defensive abilities, allowing him to guard multiple positions effectively. As one of the premier talents emerging from Southern Arizona, Ali possesses significant potential and promise, making him a noteworthy prospect to watch.
Devin Brown 2025 6-7 SR PHHoenix Prep
Brown was arguably one of the best prospects at the camp. Standing at 6-foot-7, he possesses an NBA-ready physique that is both impressive and versatile. His ball-handling skills are refined, enabling him to create scoring opportunities from all three levels - driving to the hoop, shooting from mid-range, and hitting three-pointers. His strength, resilience, and agility make him an effective defender capable of matching up against players across various positions. Given his well-rounded skill-set and physical attributes, Brown's potential is exceptionally high. A prospect to keep an eye on.
Jacori Ervin 2025 6-11 SR PHHoenix Prep
Ervin demonstrated considerable skill as a forward, showcasing an exceptional work ethic. He was highly effective on the boards - excelling at rebounding on both ends of the court. Offensively, he was adept at finishing plays near the basket, and showed proficiency with his mid-range jumper. His versatility is particularly noteworthy, as he combines quickness and agility to effectively guard against perimeter players. Ervin was one of my favorite forwards to watch.
Elijah Hayeems 2025 6-6 SR PHHoenix Prep
Hayeems is a great looking wing player by his impressive length and well-rounded scoring ability across all three levels. He excels at attacking the basket, shooting from mid-range, and connecting from beyond the arc. His potential is significant, and he consistently demonstrates a high level of competitiveness on both ends of the court. Defensively, he uses his length effectively to challenge opponents and disrupt plays, while offensively, he leverages his scoring versatility to contribute significantly to his team’s success. Hayeems will be an impact player this season.
Quintin Ragland 2025 6-2 SR Premier Prep
Ragland stands out with good size and impressive athleticism. His well-developed frame provides him with the strength and agility needed to excel on the court. He possesses exceptional ball-handling skills, allowing him to navigate through defenses with ease. His ability to drive to the basket makes him a good slasher. As a playmaker, Ragland excels in creating opportunities for his teammates and is adept at executing key plays.
Dylan Novak 2025 6-2 SR PHHoenix Prep
Novak is one of my favorite southpaws to watch. He has a great ability to create his own scoring opportunities and can effectively score from all three levels—driving to the basket, hitting mid-range shots, and hitting three-pointers. He has a keen sense of when to make the right decision and excels at facilitating plays for his teammates. Additionally, Novak's toughness and resilience stand out, as he consistently displays a strong work ethic and competitive spirit.
