The Arizona Preps' staff created one of the state’s best dead-period summer girls basketball tournaments this weekend. The inaugural Summer Clash Tournament tipped off on June 4th and concluded on June 5th. There were (8) teams in the tournament field, which included Salpointe Catholic, Sunnyside, Gilbert, Desert Vista, Cibola, Poston Butte, Scottsdale Christian and Dobson High School.
It was a great atmosphere as Arizona Preps provided a great opportunity for these young ladies to gain valuable exposure to assist with college recruitment. The event provided a free live-stream on the Arizona Preps YouTube Channel, media coverage, college basketball scouts and college coaches in attendance. The atmosphere seemed to bring a state tournament excitement to kick off the summer, as each team played (2) games a day, with the second day hosting the semi-finals and place games.
Here is a list of Game Changers, Stock Risers and Hidden Gem prospects for scouts and college coaches to keep their eyes on this up-coming season:
Game Changers
A game changer prospect is a highly desirable player that a coach absolutely wants in their program. This time of game changer prospect impacts the game by bringing intangible aspects to help their team compete to win.
Jaziah Billey- Dobson 2025 5-1 Point Guard - She is an intriguing prospect who competes at a high level, despite only being an incoming freshman. Don’t let her size fool you, as she is probably one of the most skilled prospects in the entire tournament. She has great quickness, toughness, a high basketball IQ and great feel for the game. She is an excellent facilitator with elite decision-making and passing ability. College coaches take note, as I honestly believe she will be able to compete as a high-major Division-I prospect.
Adriana Bachman - Poston Butte 2023 5-7 Guard - showed a valiant effort as one of the toughest prospects in the tournament. She plays fearless with a great motor. One of the more physical defenders of the tournament with a high basketball IQ and great anticipation. She is a good facilitator and has the skills to create scoring opportunities. I am surprised college coaches aren’t taking more interest, as she is a physical and tough prospect who steps up to carry her team on her back by doing anything her coach asks of her.
Eanae Dagons - Desert Vista 2024 5-3 Point Guard - She is a legit Division-I prospect already, as she has a high basketball IQ. She displayed her IQ by showing an elite ability as an excellent surveyor, who looks to create scoring opportunities. Her ball handling is at an elite level. She is one of the most athletic and talented players I've seen in the 2024 class. A definite mid-major prospect.
Bria Medina - Salpointe Catholic 2023 5-4 Guard - She is a solid prospect who is a defensive menace with quick feet and active hands. I first witnessed her play in last year’s 4A State Championship game against Seton Catholic. Medina and teammate Callahan are by far one of the best backcourts in the state who are deeply under recruited. Medina has great anticipation on the defensive end and scoring ability from all three ranges. Her biggest asset is her athleticism, quickness, and she is a do-it-all prospect who can fill up the stat sheet, wherever her coach and her team needs her to. College coaches take note as she is also a game-changer.
Meisha Caserio- Gilbert 2024 5-5 Guard is a sneaky scorer who can hurt opposing teams, if forgotten about and left open. Coach Colton Walker’s Lady Tigers are going to make big noise in 5A this upcoming season. Caserio plays like she is 6-5 feet tall, as she knows how to strike when the iron is hot. I am highly impressed with her quick-release shooting ability. She also gets after it on the defensive end. She showed great scoring consistency, and I am confident college coaches will be putting her on their radar.
Stock Risers
Kylee Callahan - Salpointe Catholic 2022 5-8 Guard - She is another big time prospect who thrives in transition by filling lanes and attacks the basket. She has a high IQ on both ends of the floor, and is very fundamentally sound. What impressed me was her ability to score, as she can converted from inside, mid and long ranges. I am still surprised why more colleges wouldn’t be looking to offer her, as she brings tremendous upside, as well as her energy, quickness, IQ and athleticism. She has the tools and ability to compete at the Division-I level. College coaches please get this young lady on your radar.
Morgan Evenson - Gilbert 2024 5-9 Guard - She impressed with her shooting range, IQ, anticipation, vision and slashing ability. Morgan, her sister Nicole and Caserio, are one of the top back-courts in 5A who will compete for a state title. Evenson has great size and athletic ability, which can be a match-up nightmare for opponents. Her stock is rising and college coaches take note, as she brings tremendous upside.
Nicole Evenson - Gilbert 2022 5-11 Wing - showed great scoring ability at all levels, and great energy and length. She is part of Gilbert’s three-headed monster and Coach Walker showed his team has some depth. Evenson showed a great ability to execute Coach Walker’s system, as she showed great scoring ability and decision making. College coaches take note as she brings a lot of upside.
Kamiyah Hurd - Desert Vista 2022 5-10 Wing - An athletic prospect with good slashing ability and a solid on-ball defender. She has a good motor and gets after it on both ends of the floor. She has the frame, skills, and ability to be a solid Division-I prospect. College coaches take note.
Ahdiyah Chee - Dobson 2024 5-5 Guard - She is an elite guard prospect with high IQ, scoring and defensive ability, a big time prospect with tremendous upside. I saw her play last season as a freshman on varsity. She not only got minutes, but contributed to her team’s success all season long. She has the ability to play at a high level and her role will only get expanded in Coach Henry Bribiescas system.
Madison Brown - Desert Vista 2024 5-10 Forward - is a solid prospect that can play both the 3 & 4 positions. She is long, athletic with nice finishing ability and a nice mid-range. With continued development, she has the platform to be a Division-I prospect. I am excited to watch her development, as she is an exciting player to watch.
Sierra Bomhower - Cibola 2024 5-9 Wing - is a long and athletic prospect with good finishing ability. She is a highly skilled wing prospect who has a great feel for the game. She has the ability to knock down mid-range and long-range shots. Bomhower and teammate Hoffmeyer will lead their team to a 6A region championship.
Hidden Gems
Tessa Hastings - Salpointe Catholic 2022 5-11 Wing - is a long athletic defender with good guard skills and great motor. I like the way she compliments her team, as she contributes on both ends of the floor. A great discovery for college coaches looking for a wing with good IQ, hustle, motor, defensive and offensive ability.
Hannah Williams - Salpointe Catholic 2025 5-11 Forward - is a solid inside presence who runs the floor well and has great inside scoring ability. She is a big time prospect with tremendous upside, as she is a Division-I prospect, based from what I saw on the court.
Camisha Fuson - Dobson 2024 5-2 guard is another gem prospect with range, downhill scoring ability, high IQ and highly skilled. She has a great feel for the game and has the ability to impact the game with her facilitation and scoring ability. Dobson has one of the most loaded backcourts in the state.
Rori Hoffmeyer - Cibola 2023 6-0 Forward - She is a hidden gem prospect with good size, length and low post scoring ability. She has good ability to play the power forward and center positions. She has a good shooting stroke and cleans the glass well. College coaches take note as Yuma has some talent out in Western Arizona.
Nayeli Nidez - Sunnyside 2024 5-8 Wing - She is an impressive prospect with her physical play and slashing ability. I am impressed at how tough she is. Coach Justin Delgado does a phenomenal job with his program despite missing a few of his impact players. His girls were competitive and scrappy.
