The Copper State’s basketball talent is on the rise for both boys and girls. Unfortunately, there are limited platforms to showcase the state’s best female student-athletes. Arizona Preps and MoBallin have come together to bring you The Showdown. The Showdown is an Invite-Only All-Star Game to match up the top talent between players from the AIA and Prep Schools.
The idea started at a dinner where Arizona Preps' Marketing Director Mason Maynard and myself sat down with Monique Bribiescas of MoBallin Training. The purpose of the meeting was to figure out new avenues to provide equal opportunity for Arizona’s best female student-athletes. The outcome was an all-star game dubbed THE SHOWDOWN.
The plan was to be executed in a very short time frame where, miraculously, both Mo Ballin Training and Arizona Preps were able to put the game together. Originally there were supposed to be two games, one game with the seniors and one game with the underclassmen. Due to injuries, graduations and other events, there were only a limited number of participants to confirm.
The rosters are now set (listed below) with Coaches Monique Bribiescas and Robbi Ryan leading the Prep Team (The Regulators) and Mesa Community College Coach Kori Stephenson leading the AIA Team (The Rough Ryders). Arizona Preps will be there to provide a live-stream and exclusive media coverage with comprehensive coverage from Ball is Life.
The game goes down on Saturday, May 8, 2021 @ 7pm at Arizona Compass Prep in Chandler.
There is a $15 cover charge for spectators. Don’t miss this historical event to settle the debate of who is better: PREP vs. AIA!
