The 2013 club basketball season in the state of Arizona will officially kick off this weekend with the Southwest Showcase Main Event - taking place at numerous different sites across the valley.
The event will host more than 120 different high school teams across different age groups, and will be comprised of boys and girls club teams from the state of Arizona and the Southwest.
Tournament Director Ron Coleman has been a consistent organizer of youth events in the state, and also an excellent supporter of Arizona youth basketball for many years - providing opportunities for Arizona's youth throughout the off-season to showcase their skills. This year's Main Event basketball tournament looks to be as exciting a tournament as Coleman has ever organized, as this year's field of team is absolutely loaded for boys, while the girl's divisions look to be filled with quality teams as well.
The competition in the 17U Division for the boys will be fierce, as each of the top club teams in the state for the 2013 club season will be in participation.
"I am really excited about the talent in this year's event," said Ron Coleman. "We have the top players in the state in both the boy's and girl's divisions."
It will be fun to watch this amazing talent go at it this weekend, as Arizona Preps will be in full attendance to bring you coverage of the top performers from throughout the weekend. I cancelled my annual trip to the NCAA Final Four this year to cover this weekend's event - that's how loaded the field of teams is this year.
Looking forward to a great weekend of high school basketball action!
