On Wednesday evening, here in Philadelphia, PA, this year's exciting annual Reebok Breakout Camp will get underway officially at 5PM (EST).
I am here in Philadelphia getting set to catch a glimpse of the first day of action on the campus of the University of Philadelphia. Camp action began this morning with workouts and drills by the players, as well as getting situated in their dorm rooms and taking individual player photos.
This year's camp is absolutely loaded with top-rated national talent and reminds me of the days of ABCD Camp in the past, as there are numerous big post players, long athletic wings and just simply, a lot of division-I talent. There are also many big names in attendance as part of the camp's staff. Such big names as Stephen Bardo (ESPN analyst), Pervis Ellison (former NBA star & All-American at Louisvlle), Rashon McCleod (NBA player), Walter McCarty (former NBA player & college coach) and many other top-rated coaches and members of the basketball community are in particpaton for this year's camp.
College coaches will be permitted to view the games beginning at 5PM according to NCAA rues, which is why players won't begin playing until then.
In attendance from the state of Arizona for this year's camp is Westwind Prep Academy's 6-foot-7 rising junior forward Zylan Cheatham, Posten Butte HS 6-foot-3 rising senir guard Jalen Richard and Chaparral High School's 6-foot-8 rising senior post Joe Boyd.
Also making the trip is former Casa Grande HS 2012 graduate Jonathan Milligan - a top performer from last year's camp, and a post-graduate student now enrolled at Word of God Prep School in North Carolina. Milligan is now currently under the mentoring of NBA guard John Wall, who is the founder of the annual Reebok Breakout Camp.
I will be watching each of these players this evening, and will bring you an update on each player's performance from day one.
