The exciting annual Pangos Full-Court Press All-West Camp, which usually takes place in Los, Angeles, California, and has for 20+ years, was moved this year to St. George, Utah, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tournament Director Dinos Trigonis brought together one of his best installments of the camp ever last weekend in Utah, as (240) different basketball prospects came together to compete in front of the numerous regional scouts and media in attendance. Prospects from such states as Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Wyoming, Missouri and Maryland all competed over the two day camp.
Arizona Preps made the trip to this year's event, and covered the event from start to finish. Here are many of the top individual performers, and there were many, that caught my attention during the camp, concluding with the top underclassmen prospects from this year's camp (In no particular order) . . .
Jamari Phillips 6-2 FR SG Modesto Christian HS (CA) - 2024 Class
Phillips played great throughout the event, as he is a proven scorer at a very young age. Has lengthy arms on a compact body, but is still growing a great deal physically, so he should grow to 6-5 or so in height. A very good scorer with a scorers mentality. A good shooter with excellent range already on his shot, and an ability to make plays off the dribble as well. Has a good overall skill level. Has a good mid-range game. A good finisher. Good in the open court. A strong rebounder for size. A good defender. Has a bright future.
Zach Davison 6-8 SOPH PF Mater Dei HS (CA) - 2023 Class
A skilled, longer wing prospect with a good overall ability to make plays. A good facilitator with the basketball in his hands. A good shooter with some range. A good creator off the dribble. A very good ball handler and passer that makes players around him better. A good ball handler. A good rebounder.
Yorgio Golesis 5-11 SOPH PG Skyline HS (UT) - 2023 Class
Golesis is a floor general PG that makes plays off the dribble, and is a very good shooter of the basketball with excellent range on his shot. A very skilled guard prospect. Tough. A leader on the court. Willed his team to victories in the event. A good defender that competes hard. A good passer that creates for his teammates. Pushes the basketball. A good finisher.
Curtis Williams 6-3 SOPH SG Etiwanda HS (CA) - 2023 Class
A long, rangy shooter of the basketball with a nice shooting stroke. Has unlimited range on his shot. A facilitator. A good ball handler and passer. Can create off the dribble. A good finisher.
Majok Mayui 6-11 FR C Renaissance Academy (CA) - 2024 Class
A very big and long, and very agile low-post prospect with tremendous upside for the future. A big-time low-post prospect with excellent size and length already. Moves very well for his size. Very raw offensively, but will develop. Active rebounder. A very good shotblocker. Runs the floor.
Khaman Maker 7-0 FR C Desert Valley Prep HS (NV) - 2024 Class
Maker is a big-time talent for the future and an elite-high major prospect with excellent size, length and ability very early in the recruiting process. He has tremendous size and length, and good overall agility as such a big post prospect and so young. Very active for his size. Still raw offensively but will develop a great deal. Runs the floor. Active rebounder. Active shotblocker that competes hard. Has serious upside.
Jeremiah Whitmore 6-6 SOPH SF Centennial HS (CA) - 2023 Class
A bigger wing prospect with very good athleticism and slashing ability. An active slasher and open court player. Has very good athleticism. Active rebounder and finisher. Good shotblocker.
Andrew Meadow 6-6 SOPH SF West Ranch HS (CA) - 2023 Class
A strong and athletic wing prospect with good size and length. A very good shooter of the basketball with range, and also a very good ball handler for his size. A good facilitator. Skilled and fundamentally sound. A good rebounder. Runs the floor and is a good finisher.
Sherrell McCullum Jr. 6-6 SOPH SF Garfield HS (WA) - 2023 Class
A big body but very skilled perimeter prospect that likes to have the basketball in his hands and make plays for himself and his teammates. A good shooter of the basketball with range on his shot. Has a good mid-range game. A good ball handler and passer. A facilitator. A good rebounder. A good finisher. A solid defender.
