The Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp took place recently in St. George, Utah, @ The Nets on Fire facility, and was comprised of the top freshman and sophomore prospects in the West. Arizona Preps again made the trip to Utah to cover the event in it's entirety, where there were more than 220+ prospects in participation for the camp. This annual camp, organized by top-rated national basketball scout Dinos Trigonis, has been instrumental in identifying the top young prospects in the West annually, and for more than 20+ years. Top-rated prospects from this camp have gone on to become serious Division-I prospects at the high-major level.
Here are my top prospects from from the 2023 and 2024 classes from this year's exciting event, which was absolutely loaded with college prospects for the future (In no particular order) . . .
Isaiah Elohim 6-4 FR SG Heritage Christian (CA) 2024 Class
An extremely strong and very athletic prospect with huge potential for the future. The best frosh prospect I have seen to date, as he is very developed and skilled and athletic like that of a senior prospect, and he is a mere freshman. Extremely talented with tremendous upside for the future and opportunity for growth as a player and prospect. A good shooter with range, but is at his best off the dribble, where he is able to make very strong drives and finishes for such a young prospect. Excellent slasher and finisher. Excellent in the open floor where he plays well above the rim. A strong rebounder. Good defender that plays passing lanes. An immediate elite high-major Division-I prospect.
John Mobley Jr. 5-11 FR PG HS TBA (Las Vegas, NV) 2024 Class
A very skilled point guard prospect with an excellent feel for the game already. A strong ball handler and passer that has command presence on the floor, and strong leadership qualities. Pushes the basketball up the floor and plays fast. An excellent defender with quick hands and feet. Has a bright future. Has not chosen a high school as of yet - still to be determined. A big-time guard prospect for the future.
Darius Carr 6-3 SOPH SG St. Bernard HS (CA) 2023 Class
A skilled and very athletic guard prospect with a strong frame for his size and age. Tough mentality. A big-time scorer and finisher already. A good shooter with range on his shot, and plays with a scorer's mentality, able to make plays for himself and others, almost at will. An excellent slasher and finisher. Very good scorer in the open court. A strong rebounder. A very good defender that plays passing lanes. An excellent shotblocker. Has big-time potential for the future, and was selected as a CO-MVP of the Top 30 Cream of the Crop All-Star Game. Has a bright future.
Zack Davidson 6-7 SOPH SF/PF Mater Dei HS (CA) 2023 Class
Among the best overall forward prospects in this year's camp, and also showed very well in the recent Pangos Full Court Press All-West Camp. A talented and tough 3/4 prospect that is still growing a great deal, and already possesses a very good overall skill level. Can play inside and out, and is a strong finisher around the basket. A good shooter with some range on his shot, which makes him a difficult guard for opposing forwards. An active rebounder. Runs the floor hard. Has good foot work. Has a bright future. Selected as a CO-MVP of the Top 30 Cream of the Crop All-Star Game.
Jordan Ross 6-1 SOPH PG/SG Pleasant Grove (UT) 2023 Class
Ross is a skilled guard prospect with a nice left-handed shooting stroke - able to make shots with regularity from longer ranges. Able to play both guard positions on the floor, but at his best shooting the basketball, so, as he grows physically, it will be very interesting to see which position on the floor he gravitates toward. A very good ball handler that is able to get to where he wants on the floor. A good passer that sees the floor. Makes plays and plays with a high level of confidence. A good defender with quick hands. Has a bright future. Was selected as a CO-MVP of the Top 30 Cream of the Crop All-Star Game.
Jimmy Oladokun Jr. 6-7 SOPH SF/PF Damien HS (CA) 2023 Class
A long and athletic prospect with very good size and length. Very skilled already for his size. A good shooter with range. His wingspan allows him to very a very effective rebounder and finisher. A strong finisher at the rim. Has major upside for the future, with excellent potential.
Andrew Meadow 6-7 SOPH PF West Ranch HS (CA) 2023 Class
A strong post player with very good athleticism and good overall size. A strong finisher around the rim. Active around the basket. A good low-post scorer. Strong rebounder. Runs the floor well and hard. A good shotblocker. Has very good potential. A good looking post prospect.
Kevin Patton Jr. 6-7 SOPH SF AZ Compass Prep (AZ) 2023 Class
Patton is a skilled, bigger wing prospect with a nice overall offensive skillset. A left-hander with excellent versatility as a young prospect, Patton is able to play as a guard or wing currently, and will only develop over time as he continues to mature physically. A good shooter with range on his shot. A good finisher from mid-range and in the lane. Patton is a good mid-range performer also, able to stop and pop off the dribble, and pull up for a nice jumper over defenders. He is skilled and is a good ball handler that can share time at the off-guard position, and is also able to push the basketball up the floor from the point position. Sees the floor well and is a willing passer. He is a good rebounder also, as a result of his length and size. He could brow to 6-8 or even 6-9 in height over the next few years, which would really take his game and potential as a college prospect to another level.
Khaman Maker 7-1 FR C Desert Valley Prep (NV) 2024 Class
Maker is a big-time, future elite-high major prospect wih excellent size and length already. Very thin physically, and still needs to mature a great deal physically. Very active low-post prospect with excellent length and activity on the floor. Still raw offensively. A good low post scorer and finisher, that will improve a great deal over time, with more size and strength. Active rebounder and shotblocker. Runs the floor very well. Solid finisher. Has huge upside and a bright future.
Xavier Edmunds 6-8 SOPH PF Bishop Montgomery HS (CA) 2023 Class
A big, strong low post player with a strong physical frame and good overall toughness. Plays with his back to the basket and can score effectively around the paint. A solid shooter from mid-range. Has solid low-post footwork. A strong finisher around the paint and at the rim. Strong rebounder. A good passer out of the post. Runs the floor hard. Competes. Has a bright future.
Jamari Phillips 6-2 FR SG Modesto Christian HS (CA) 2024 Class
Phillips played great against prospects his age, after a strong performance also in the Full Court Press All-West Camp. A proven scorer at a very young age. Has lengthy arms on a compact body, but is still growing a great deal physically, so he should grow to 6-5 or so in height. A very good scorer with a scorers mentality. A good shooter with excellent range already on his shot, and an ability to make plays off the dribble as well. Has a good overall skill level. Has a good mid-range game. A good finisher. Good in the open court. A strong rebounder for size. A good defender.
