While it is is unclear why he doesn't have much more recruiting interest at this point, Aspire Prep Academy 6-foot-9 prep forward Nik Mains is still on the recruiting board this spring - looking to land a school very soon for himself.
A 2016 graduate of Pinnacle High School, Mains attended Aspire Prep this season to play for the school's post-graduate team, where he competed against other prep schools and local junior colleges. Mains decided to attend Aspire Prep after first deciding to attend Air Force after high school and then changing his mind and re-opening his recruitment.
Mains currently has an offer on the table from St. Bonaventure and Arizona Christian University. Mains has also received interest from Southern Utah, Idaho State and Northern Arizona.
Mains is a long and very skilled wing prospect with excllent size. He has grown over the past year, and, as a result, he looks much more attractive these days to college coaches. Mains will need to add considerable physical strength at the next level to make an impact, but his skill level and feel for the game is a glaring attribute that he possesses. He is a very good sleeper prospect late for a college program.
Mains is also a good student and is already a full academic qualifier per NCAA recruiting standards.
I will be keeping a close eye on Mains' recruitment this spring, and will bring you updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Mains is a long and very skilled wing prospect with excllent size. He has grown over the past year, and, as a result, he looks much more attractive these days to college coaches. It is still unclear as to whether he will play as a 3 or as a 4 in college, but that should depend heavily on which college program he chooses. Either way, Mains will need to add considerable physical strength at the next level to make an impact, but his skill level and feel for the game is a glaring attribute that he possesses. He has a nice shooting stroke with range and is also able to make plays for himself off the dribble, and finish at the rim. He is a very good passser that sees the floor - one of his best attributes. He also runs the floor very well, almost like a guard, and should flourish over time, as he grows into his physical frame and with natural maturity. Has excellent potential for the future.
