Pinnacle High School's 6-foot-8, 220-pound senior post Cody McDavis is coming off a strong senior season for one of the state's top teams.
McDavis had his best season to date in helping lead Pinnacle HS to a strong 2011-2012 season and a 30-4 record.
Now that the season is over, McDavis will turn his attention to recruiting. After an offer Sunday evening, McDavis now has two division-I offers on the table.
The hottest unsigned prospect in Arizona this spring, McDavis advised me that he received a scholarship offer from Northern Colorado on Sunday evening.
McDavis also recently received a scholarship offer from UC-Davis as well.
McDavis advised me that he really likes both schools as possible future destinations for himself, but that he is taking his time this spring in the recruiting process.
"I want to make sure before I make a decision," said McDavis.
McDavis also advised me that he has offers on the table from smaller college programs as well. Colorado School of Mines (CO) and Bemidji State (MN) have both offered scholarships to McDavis as well.
McDavis currently has plans to play on the club circuit this spring before reaching a decision, unless he decides before then.
McDavis has excellent potential as a college prospect as he possesses a very strong and athletic frame. Standing 6-8 in heigth and possessing a good-size body already for the college level, he will simply need to continue to improve his agressive nature on the floor and play with an increased motor to reach his full potential as a player and as a prospect.
McDavis is also an impressive student, and carries a perfect 4.0 CUM GPA.
We will continue to follow McDavis' college recruitment closely this spring, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Preps Scouting Report: McDavis has excellent potential as a college prospect as he possesses a very strong and athletic frame. Standing 6-8 in heigth and possessing a good-size body already for the college level, he will simply need to continue to improve his agressive nature on the floor and play with an increased motor to reach his full potential as a player and as a prospect. He is a strong low-post scorer with solid low post footwork and a soft touch out to 18-20 feet. He is a stretch four-man that should only continue to improve with more touches of the basketball and more time in the gym. He is an active rebounder that enjoys physical contact. He is also a very strong finisher around the basket, and also rebounds outside of his area. McDavis also runs the floor very well and is a very good athlete for his size, as he has the physical tools to become a tremendous player. He also has excellent upside for the future. His best years are clearly well ahead of him.
