Brophy Prep High School's skilled and heady 6-foot-1 senior point guard prospect Mason Zwillinger is among the top overall guard prospects in the state's 2015 senior class. While an underrated guard prospect and also unknown to basketball enthusiasts in the state, Zwillinger is coming off an excellent showing for himself this summer - proving just has valuable as a player that he is.
Zwillinger played this spring and summer for his club program, the Arizona Aces 17U team, and led helped lead the team to a very strong performance throughout the club season. Zwillinger and his talented group of underrated prospects won the 17 & Under title at the Bigfoot Las Vegas Spring Spectacular. They also won the Silver Division Championship at the Pangos Sweet 16 this summer, and finished undefeated (5-0) in this summer’s Fullcourt Press Cream of the Crop event.
Zwillinger proved his worth through this spring and summer, as he led the offense for this team - making heady decisions with the basketball in his hands for much of the game and also knocking down shots consistently for himself. Zwillinger is a winner and plays hard with a strong desire to win. His competitive spirit and love for the game of basketball are glaring attributes that helped his team to be very successful all club season.
Zwillinger will now turn his attention to the high school season, his final year of high school and a big one for him and his team of Broncos. While coached by former division-I college coach, Tony Fuller, Brophy is tough to play for, as they run a very efficient offensive set and structure. Zwillinger, however, excels in this format and should have a strong senior season for himself.
Zwillinger indicated to me that he is receiving some strong college interest currently for several smaller college programs, and that he currently has a leader for his services - University of Chicago, a very academic division-III program in Illinois. Zwillinger has had very good conversation with the coaches at this college, and looks as though they could land this good guard prospect.
Zwillinger is also an excellent student himself and carries a 4.2 CUM GPA and achieved a 32 on the ACT and a 2020 on the SAT, impressive scores at Brophy Prep - one of the elite academic institutions in the country.
I will continue to follow the progress of Zwillinger throughout the high school season, and bring you any recruiting updates as they continue to develop.
