Pima Community College 6-foot-7 sophomore standout Mason Hunt is coming off a tremendous sophomore campaign, and now his college recruitment has heated up. Hunt firmly established himself as one of the top overall performers in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) over the past two seasons, while helping lead one of the most dominant programs in the country. As a result of his strong play this season and his performance in the recent Division-II National Tournament, Hunt has seen numerous Division-I college programs extend offers to him. Hunt will soon have a big decision to make for himself.

Over the course of his two-year career at Pima, Hunt was the definition of winning. He helped guide the program to an incredible 70-2 overall record, along with back-to-back Region Titles and two appearances in the NJCAA Division-II National Tournament - an achievement that speaks volumes about both his impact and the culture of excellence surrounding the Pima basketball program.

On the national stage in Danville, Illinois, Hunt elevated his game even further. Competing against the top junior college talent in the country, he was among the most impressive overall performers at the NJCAA Division-II National Tournament - showcasing his ability to produce at a high level when the lights were brightest. His performance not only helped solidify his reputation, but also sparked a surge in college recruitment that continues to build momentum.

Hunt’s sophomore season numbers reflect both his consistency and versatility as a player. He averaged 18.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while shooting an impressive 47.9% from the field and 38.6% from three-point distance - numbers that place him among the most efficient perimeter scorers in the junior college ranks.

At 6-foot-7, Hunt brings a rare combination of size and shooting ability that makes him extremely difficult to defend. His ability to stretch the floor, score at multiple levels, and compete on both ends has made him one of the most attractive prospects in the country. Simply put—he is one of the best shooters in the nation at the JUCO level. But what separates Hunt even further is his mentality. He is a competitor. A winner. A player that consistently impacts winning basketball.

Following his standout performances in Danville, Hunt’s recruitment has taken off in a major way.

He has recently received new Division-I offers from Central Michigan, Drexel, Southern Indiana, Sacramento State and Cal Baptist, with strong interest continuing to build across the country. Hunt has already taken an official visit to Central Michigan, one that he reportedly enjoyed very much, and he is currently in the process of mulling over his options for taking additional visits or wrapping up his recruitment sooner than later. He and his family are considering both options currently.

While more programs are expected to get involved in his recruitment, Hunt is not focused on adding volume—he is focused on finding the right fit. That mindset speaks to his maturity and understanding of the process. As it stands, there is no official timetable for Hunt’s college decision. However, based on the current pace of his recruitment, it is expected that he could make a decision soon. Likely sooner rather than later, as he continues to evaluate his options and narrow his focus.

I will continue to follow Mason Hunt’s college recruitment closely, and bring you updates as they continue to develop.
