One of the top unsigned prospects in the state's 2019 Class is having a very strong spring performance for himself, and is worthy of any recruiting attention that he garners. Buckeye High School's 6-foot-4 senior guard Isaiah Marin is coming off another strong performance this past weekend in Los Angeles, CA,and now he has some good options for himself.
I caught up with Marin recently in LA, and he advised me that he is in the process of trying to figure out what he wants to do for his immediate future still, but that he is building some good options for himself this spring. Marin told me that he may consider doing a post-graduate year and reclassifying to the 2020 Class, which would make him a very attractive recruit for the following year.
Marin currently has an offer on the table from North Carolina A&T, and San Jose State looks to also be seriously involved with him now as well, after Head Coach John Prileu watched Marin perform last weekend in LA in the Pangos Spring Live event. In the event, Marin was very impressive in his performance - putting up strong numbers as his Firestorm Nation Elite team continued their terrific play and had another undefeated performance. Led by legendary Head Coach Paul Suber, the team won back-to-back local events in Arizona in April and has almost dominated their competition all spring.
Marin is a skilled combo-guard prospect with a lot of tricks in his bag. He has a pure shooting stroke with nice and unlimited range on his shot, and an ability to make plays for himself and others off the dribble. He has a slick handle of the basketball with a nice overall feel for the game, and an ability to score it in the half-court set or in the open floor. He has a nice overall offensive skillset and is an excellent sleeper prospect.
Marin is among the top sleeper prospects in the West, and has very good potential as a player. He is worthy of much higher college recruitment than he has received to date.
I will continue to follow the recruitment of Marin closely, and bring you any recruiting updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Marin is a skilled combo-guard prospect with a very nice overall offensive skillset. He is very fluid offensively, and makes the game look easy - able to get a basket almost at will at times. He has a very pure shooting stroke with nice range on his shot and an ability to make plays for himself and others off the dribble. He has a slick handle of the basketball with a nice overall feel for the game, and an ability to score it in the half-court set or in the open floor. He is also developing a nice mid-range game as well. A bigger guard prospect with good size for either guard position. A good rebounder from the guard position as well. A solid defender. A very good ball handler and passer. A very good overall sleeper prospect.
