The future is superbly bright for Pinnacle High School's star 6-foot-2 freshman combo-guard prospect Nico Mannion. After a ridiculous freshman season for this young man, many high-major division-I programs are already looking to stake claim on the young phenom.
This week, after Mannion recently received a huge offer from the University of Arizona, he would receive another huge offer from top-ranked UCLA. Mannion also already has offers from Arizona State and Cal State Northridge, with many more scholarship offers on the horizon.
Mannion led his Pinnacle HS team this season to a 22-7 overall record, and a 6A state playoff berth, before losing in the second round to a loaded and very athletic Chavez team. In the process, Mannion averaged a very impressive 19.8 points, 4.4 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals per/game.
Mannion was also a middle school phenom, where he gained major national attention. Mannion made a lot of noise nationally with his play - earning him a Top 5 overall ranking nationally in the 2020 class. He made a name for himself competing in national and regional events during the club season, and while playing with his local club program, the Arizona Vipers, and also for the nationally-ranked West Coast Elite club program, organized by West Coast scout and club coach Ryan Silver.
Mannion has a serious future ahead of him, much like that of Corona Del Sol HS guard Alex Barcello. I look forward to watching his career develop over the next three years, and will be bringing you many more recruiting updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Mannion is a very slick guard prospect with an excellent handle of the basketball and a superb overall offensive skillset. He has a excellent quickness and very good athleticism, and pushes the basketball up the floor. He is a terrific shooter of the basketball with range on his shot and a quick release. A fundamentally sound performer, Mannion has a developed knack of scoring the basketball at a young age. He is also a very good passer that sees the floor and makes players around him better. A good on the ball defender with good lateral quickness. An active rebounder for his size. He is still growing a great deal and could reach 6-6 in heigth. The son of a former professional player. Mannion is a sure-fire prospect for the future and looks to be Arizona's next best young prospect.
