Sunday concluded the week's action in Las Vegas, as the majority of Arizona teams had headed home already.  Some Arizona teams, however, were still in action - resulting in some top performances on the day.

After two big wins on Saturday, the Arizona Magic Elite 17U team would advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday.  While playing an 8AM game, the team would lead late in the game by 11 points, but would turn the basketball over in the late stages of the game - resulting in a narrow defeat . . .

The top individual performer again on Sunday was Apollo High School's gifted 6-foot junior guard Dre Marin.  After posting a game-high 39 points in his team's playoff game on Saturday, Marin came back on Sunday to lead his Arizona Magic Elite 16U team to the final four of the 16U Division at the Fab 48 tournament.  In the process, Marin would post a game-high 32 points in his team's quarterfinal match-up to lead his team to the semi-finals.

The Magic Elite would come up just short of reaching the tournament finals - losing the semi-final game after a missed layup by the Magic just before the buzzer.  Dre Marin may have had the best summer of any prospect in the state, as he developed quickly into one of the top guard prospects in the West's 2017 class.  Marin is set to have a huge junior season for his father, Apollo HS head coach Jacob Marin - one of the best developers of talent in the state . . .

After a tough start to the month in July, Amp'd Elite led by terrific head coach Amp Lee, a former NFL star, would reach the quarterfinals of the 17U Platinum Division in the Bigfoot Hoops event.  The team had a very balanced attack and was led by the play of Corona Del Sol High School's 6-foot-4 rising senior wing Jeff McCain . . .

The Arizona Power Black had a very good showing in Vegas - reaching the quarterfinals of the Gold Elite Division of the Bigfoot Hoops tourney.  Led by the play of Gilbert Chritian HS 6-foot-9 senior post Mitch Lightfoot, the Power Black would advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday, only to fall to the Milwaukee Spartans (WI).  The Power Black also received strong performances from Corona Del Sol HS 6-foot-1 junior guard Saben Lee and Moon Valley HS 6-foot-6 senior forward Bryce Cheney.
