Yavapai College's sophomore guard Jason Parent’s path to prominence in Northern Arizona basketball is a testament to hard work and determination. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds, the sophomore guard is coming off a big sophomore season for Yavapai College and Head Coach Kevon Davis - earning recognition as the ACCAC Defensive Player of the Year and a Second-Team All-Conference selection in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) this season.
Parent’s basketball journey began at Prescott High School, where he averaged impressive numbers - 26.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game during his senior year, and becoming a household name in Northern Arizona. After redshirting at Northern Arizona University, he spent some time at Nebraska Wesleyan University, before returning home to Prescott to enroll at Yavapai.
This season, Parent has proven himself to be an invaluable asset, averaging 14.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, while shooting 51.4% from the field. He’s started (27) of (30) games, and has established himself as one of the top junior college prospects in the West.
Known for his NBA-level athleticism, Parent is a highlight-reel player capable of electrifying dunks and an excellent shooting stroke. He’s at his best as an off-guard, but can handle point guard duties in crucial situations. With strong rebounding skills and the ability to defend multiple positions, he’s a well-rounded prospect still looking to land a college scholarship offer this spring.
Jason Parent's journey is far from over, but his current success at Yavapai College demonstrates why he is one of the most intriguing junior college prospects in the West.
I will continue to follow his college recruitment closely, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop. Congratulations to Jason Parent on his tremendous success this junior college season, and an amazing future ahead of him from our staff here at Arizona Preps.
