One of the elite 2020 prospects in the country is Desert Ridge High School's 6-foot-8, 215-pound freshman Jason Harris. While some other prospects have received much more recruiting attention this season, Harris is a glaring young prospect for the future as well.
Recently, Harris received a scholarship offer from a Mountain West program, as the University of Nevada extended a schoalrship offer to the gifted young prospect
This should be the first of a large amount of scholarship offers for Harris, once college coaches begin to catch a glimpse of him. A two-sport athlete, also being a budding young star in the sport of football, Harris already has numerous high-major division-I offers on the table for himself in football. I look for him to receive just as many in basketball over time.
This season as a freshman for Desert Ridge, Harris averaged impressive numbers - averaging 12.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per/game.
Harris was one of the top middle-school prospects to ever enter into the Arizona high school ranks, alongside other top-rated middle school performers such as Marvin Bagley, Nico Mannion, Matt Carlino and Jerryd Bayless. Jason Harris entered the Arizona high school ranks as one of the elite overall prospects in the country for his age - ranking as high as #1 player in the country by some national scouting services.
Harris is rated among the top football prospects in the country already as well, already possessing several high-major division-I offers for himself. Harris is a rare find in the sport of football, as there are very few prospects with his size, length and with superior athleticism. He will have the option I believe of playing at the highest level in either basketball or football. It will just depend on which sport he decides to put the work into.
I will continue to follow the recruitment and progress as a player for Harris, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Harris a very long and lengthy athletic forward prospect with loads of potential for the future. He is well beyond his years as a college prospect, as he possesses the physical tools that most kids his age do not have. As he matures physically, this young man should blossom a great deal over time. Harris runs the floor hard and is a good finisher in the open floor. He has a soft touch on his jump shot out to 15 feet, and is capable of also making shots beyond the arc, although his consistency drops from longer ranges. Harris is a very good low post scorer at this point in his young career, as he has a nice jump hook and also can turn and face. He is an active rebounder and shotblocker - two nice attributes from a post prospect. An excellent athlete that runs the floor extremely well and is an excellent finisher in transition. This young man's potential for the future is limitless - in either basketball or football. Has superior upside. An excellent young prospect that will contineu to receive national recruiting attention from coaches, scouts and media.
