For more than three decades, Arizona Preps has been at the forefront of basketball coverage, scouting and recruiting throughout the state of Arizona. Now, we are preparing to take those conversations to another level. Coming soon, Arizona Preps will launch its new podcast, “In the Paint,” featuring myself, Anthony Ray, alongside Willow Canyon High School Head Coach Joe Colletti. This will not simply be another basketball podcast.

“In the Paint” will take listeners inside the game and address the serious topics affecting basketball today - both here in Arizona and throughout the country. We will discuss recruiting, player development, transfers, college basketball, high school basketball, NCAA rules, the changing recruiting landscape, the business of basketball, and many of the issues that players, parents and coaches face every day.

I have been involved in Arizona basketball and the national recruiting scene for more than (30) years. During that time, I operated an NCAA-approved scouting service for more than three decades, while also building and operating the Arizona Magic highly successful and nationally ranked club basketball program for (17) years. Throughout my career, I have helped more than (450) student-athletes sign with NCAA Division-I programs and have had the opportunity to watch and evaluate just about every top player in the country over the past three decades. For the past (10) years, I have also served as an announcer for games played annually at the prestigious Pangos All-American Camp, giving me another opportunity each year to see many of the nation’s premier high school basketball prospects firsthand.

I have watched Arizona basketball grow tremendously over the years and have been fortunate to play a significant role in helping build the basketball and recruiting culture that exists in our state today. Now, I want to use those experiences and relationships to educate the next generation.

Joining me as co-host will be Joe Colletti, the highly successful head coach of the Willow Canyon High School boys basketball program. Colletti has established himself as one of Arizona’s most successful high school basketball coaches and has built Willow Canyon into one of the state’s premier programs. His perspective will be extremely important to “In the Paint.” While I will bring the perspective of a longtime scout, evaluator, club basketball director and recruiting analyst, Colletti will bring the perspective of a successful high school coach who deals directly with today’s players, parents, recruiting environment and changing basketball landscape.

And we will not always agree. That’s part of what should make “In the Paint” special. We want to have real conversations about basketball - including subjects that aren’t always easy to discuss.

We will also feature high-level guests from throughout the basketball community who can provide firsthand knowledge and major insight into recruiting and the business of basketball. College coaches, high school coaches, scouts, basketball executives, former players and other influential figures within the game will join us to share their experiences and knowledge.

Our goal is to provide valuable information for players, parents, coaches and basketball fans, while discussing topics that can help families better understand today’s basketball and recruiting landscape.

There is a tremendous amount of misinformation surrounding recruiting today. Through “In the Paint,” we want to provide our audience with knowledge developed through decades of actual experience in the game.

We are going to talk about the things people need to know. We are going to discuss the things people want to know. And sometimes, we’re going to discuss the things that people in basketball don’t want to talk about.

That’s why we’re calling it “In the Paint.”

So stay on the alert. “In the Paint” is coming soon to YouTube and across the Arizona Preps social media platforms.
