With numerous top-rated prospects already off the recruiting board for Arizona's 2024 Class, and while most college programs will be raiding the NCAA Transfer Portal for prospects this spring, there are still some prospects available in the state of Arizona within the prep school and high school ranks that Division-I programs will be pursuing. Another top-rated prospect still available in Arizona's 2024 Class is Dream City Christian Prep's 6-foot-7 senior wing Travis Torain. Torain is among the very best available prospects in the class, even though his overall college recruitment has been a little slow for his liking. While Torain has some nice previous offers, he has yet to receive many new offers over the last year. Torain is another prospect who I believe will raise a lot more attention throughout the prep season, and lead to a nice signing for him during the spring evaluation period.
Torain is almost an enigma of sorts, as he is a lengthy wing prospect with a good overall offensive skillset, but has yet to attract much more recruiting interest that I thought he would generate more than a year ago. While Torain has received some offers to his credit throughout his college recruitment, I had expected him to receive much more recruitment. Not higher recruitment, just more of it.
Currently, Torain has previous offers on the table from Seton Hall, Arizona State, Oakland, UC San Diego and San Jose State, but he received his latest offer from San Jose State recently - a year after his last official offer. While Torain's recruitment has been slow for some time, he is a prospect that could garner loads of recruiting interest late, as he is among the very best available prospects in Arizona's 2024 Class, and should have a strong finish to the season with a talented Dream City program.
Torain came off an injury last summer (2022), but completely recovered and had a breakout season for himself as a junior with Dream City Christian. He is playing a much bigger role this year as a senior, and for a loaded team. He is a long, rangy wing prospect with an advanced offensive skillset. He has excellent versatility as a 2024 prospect, as a result of his extreme length and ability to shoot and handle the basketball. He has nice range on his shot and good size as a shooter. He is a solid defender but does need to play with a consistent motor to maximize his potential as a player and as a prospect. A solid rebounder. Torain is a good overall sleeper prospect for the right college fit for himself this spring.
I expect to see Torain land much more recruiting interest as the season progresses, and look forward to seeing where he ultimately lands for college. He is battle tested as a player, and can play immediately, for the right level and college fit for next season.
I will continue to follow his recruitment closely throughout the season, and bring you updates as they continue to develop.
