Dream City Christian Prep's Mame Fatou Diene is one of my favorite sleeper prospects, as she has incredible ability and upside. Standing at nearly 6-foot-5, Diene has the frame, length and size to be a solid Division-I prospect. San Jose State University jumped on the Diene recruiting train, as they saw how impactful Diene could be.
I was able to talk to her Head Coach Al Mitchell at Dream City Christian and here is what he had to say about her, “Mame brings toughness to our team. She has the ability to score at all three levels. Defensively, she has the awareness and quick reaction to deflect passes and block shots. I want people to know that Mame is a natural leader, she leads by example which will make her successful at the next level and in life.”
Diene has a ton of upside, as she runs the floor well - filling the transition lanes and providing a shot blocking and rebounding presence on the defensive end. Diene could transition to playing the wing, as she is extremely skilled with handling the ball. She has a smooth shooting stroke and has the ability to score at all three levels.
I look forward to watching her compete at the Nike Tournament of Champions. Her recruiting stock will continue to rise as a player. Her potential, skills, athleticism and size will attract more offers into the Spring.
