There has been a resurgence of Coolidge High’s Boys Basketball in recent years, since the return of Hall of Fame Coach David Glasgow. The key player to their success is 2025 Point Guard Carlos Coronado Jr. Coronado’s game has grown on me over the last (4) years, as I got to see his talent as a middle schooler.
Now as a floor-general in high school, he is making a huge impact in controlling the game for his team. Coronado has a tight handle who can break down opposing defenders to either score or hit open teammates. He makes sound decisions on both ends of the floor, and utilizes his quickness and anticipation to disrupt passing lanes to scoop up easy steals. Coronado then turns those turnovers into offensive opportunities.
The spotlight has been mainly on senior forward Brayden Gant, however if you watch closely, Coronado has been creating a lot of those scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates.
Currently, Coronado is averaging 11.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3 steals per/game. This young man is deserving of college opportunities, as he is a gym rat with a solid work ethic.
His recruiting stock should climb into the summer, as he plans to play in the Under Armour Circuit with Arizona Select. I invite college coaches to come out and check this young man out, as he is one of the top up-and-coming point guards in Arizona.
