It was an uneventful evening in the second round of this year's Division-II state playoffs, as each of the higher seeded teams advanced.

Star 6-foot-2 senior guard Larry Lewis scored a season-high 38 points to lead #1 seed Arcadia HS (24-6) to a 64-50 victory over visiting #16 seed Flagstaff. Arcadia advances to the quarterfinals, where they will now face #8 seed Salpointe Catholic on Wednesday at Wells Fargo Arena ...

#3 seed Tucson Amphitheater HS (28-3) moved one step closer at winning their first Division-I state championship, after winning their division championship last season. Amphi defeated #19 seed Apollo HS at home Saturday evening, 88-75. Amphi will now face #6 seed Sierra Linda HS on Wednesday, after Sierra Linda defeated #11 seed Coconino HS 53-48 ...

In a big playoff win, #7 seed Paradise Valley (24-5) knocked off #10 seed Nogales HS, 55-48, in front of their home crowd. The Trojans will now face one of the state's hottest and best teams, as they will play against #2 seed Kellis HS.

Kellis (25-2) advanced to the quarterfinals of the state tournament Saturday evening with a nice 72-53 win over #18 seed Queen Creek HS. 6-foot-2 junior combo-guard Desmond Ross poured in a game-high 24 points, while 6-foot-9 senior post Kenny Martin (Arizona State signee) finished the game with 21 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks.
