The Bella Vista Prep basketball program is absolutely loaded with talent from top to bottom, as many top-rated prospects inhabit the school. There are almost too many prospects to keep count of, as the program has risen to national prominence again, after joining forces with Canyon International Academy (CIA) just a little over a year ago. The program continues to pump out loads of Division-I talent for a program that includes many top-rated national and international performers.
In a significant commitment this week, 6-foot, 165-pound senior point guard Jordan Charles, one of Arizona’s top guard prospects, has announced his verbal commitment and will sign with UC-Santa Barbara. Charles announced his big decision on social media this week.
During the recruiting process, Charles had a wealth of offers on the table. He was heavily recruited by schools like TCU, Arizona State, South Florida, DePaul, Nevada, Old Dominion, Illinois-Chicago, LIU, Monmouth, Murray State, UC San Diego and Stonehill. Ultimately, after weighing all these options, he decided that UC Santa Barbara was the perfect fit for him.
The 6-foot standout from Bella Vista Prep originally hails from Canada, and has had a stellar high school career in Arizona. He first made waves at Canyon International Academy (CIA) before continuing his journey at Bella Vista after the program transitioned. Charles is widely regarded not only as one of the top guards in Arizona, but also one of the top guard prospects in the country. He has soared while being a bit under the radar, and in a loaded program with numerous other top-rated prospects.
Charles is known for his quiet, but incredibly skilled style of play, which allows him to score effectively and also create scoring opportunities for others. He makes the game look easy and plays with excellent pace. He has impressed me for years with his high basketball IQ, offensive prowess, and defensive quickness. He’s a true floor general who makes his teammates better and can take over a game when needed. As a prospect with a true position, he should see playing time early and often in his collegiate playing career.
The commitment by Charles is a huge win for UCSB, and there’s no doubt he’ll make an immediate impact at the college level with his talent and leadership. Congratulations to Charles on this commitment, as well as the Bella Vista Prep and Arizona Unity club program.
