The state of Arizona received a nice boost in our basketball reputation this weekend with the superb success of prospects from the 2017 class.  The Arizona D-1 Nation 16U squad is one of the best teams of their age group in the West, and they have steamrolled through their competition recently - wining their last 3 tournaments they have played in.

Led by terrific head coach Glenn Mayberry, this group is very talented, cohesive and well coached.  Mayberry, also a tournament organizer and very accomlished basketball referee, organized this group and has been able to keep much of the team together for several years.

The team defeated an Arizona Power 16U squad coached by Brad Pinter in the championship game of the event - winning the game by more than 30 points.

D-1 Nation was led in the event by the superb play of rising star 6-foot-6, 200-pound sophomore wing prospect Gabe McGlothan.  McGlothan is a big-time young talent that will soon garner much division-I recruiting interest.  McGlothan is an excellent looking prospect with a nice skill level, combined with superb athletic talent.

Brophy Prep 6-foot-9 sophomore post Sean Dunn is a serious load and looks to be another serious division-I prospect.  A wide-body low post prospect that runs the floor very well for his tremendous size and is also a very good finisher.  Dunn also possesses good athleticism, hands and feet for his young age.  Another budding young prospect that should garner much recruiting interest very soon.

Sophomore guard prospect Andres Mayberry is a sure-fire guard prospect with an excellent handle of the basketball and a tremendous feel for the game.  He pushes the basketball and seems to always find the open man on the floor.  A floor general prospect that makes him team go and has excellent leadership qualities.

This team also won the Double Pump Hoopfest in Anaheim, CA recently as well - a very impressive accomplishment.  This group of young men should make the state of Arizona very proud, as Arizona prospects continue to prove why Arizona basketball is considered to be significantly on the rise.
