With the state playoffs set to get underway this week around the state, Arizona Preps is proud to update our Team Rankings for high school boy's basketball in the state - Arizona Preps Super 25 Team Power Rankings. These rankings are our Top 25 overall team rankings in the state, regardless of Division or classification. These rankings are absolutely loaded. Our latest release of the boy's Team Rankings are led by our new #1 ranked overall team in the state - Sunnyslope High School (17-1).

Sunnyslope High School (17-1) moves into our top spot overall, after the Vikings have won their last (7) games on the season in fine fashion. After winning their first (10) games, which included a big road win over St. Mary's in their first game of the high school season, Sunnyslope lost to a very well-coached Mesa High School (13-1) team in overtime (51-49). Sunnyslope then handed then undefeated Salpointe Catholic their first loss of the season in a blowout fashion, and has had numerous big wins this season over such programs as Valley Vista, Brophy Prep, Chaparral, Paradise Honors, Desert Vista, Basha and Apollo.

St. Mary's (16-1), while not losing since our last rankings, checks in at our #2 spot. After losing their first game of the season to a very talented Sunnyslope High School team, St. Mary's has rolled through their competition - winning their last (15) games in a row, with big wins over Paradise Honors (78-67), a huge win over Catalina Foothills on the road (48-46) and another huge win over a very talented Mountain Pointe team (70-40). The Knights are a young group with loads of talent, and Head Coach Damin Lopez and his coaching staff have the Knights playing excellent defense and sharing the basketball, which has made them very enjoyable to watch.

Mesa High School (16-1) moves up to our #3 spot overall, and has had a fantastic high school season thus far. They are led by a nice group of prospects that are very well-coached and mirror their head coach Scott Stansberry and his coaching staff, as they are tough, play together and compete at a high level. Led by the stellar point guard play of senior guard Steven Cervantes (Glendale JC commit), this team can beat anyone in the state. After an early season loss to Gilbert, the Jackrabbits have won their last (13) games on the season, and are primed for a big state title run in the 6A Division.

Catalina Foothills (15-1) is one of the top high school programs in the country, when you consider their winning percentage over time. This program is very well-coached and tough to beat, especially at home. Catalina Foothills dropped a very close game to St. Mary's HS at home (48-46), and since, have won their last (7) games on the season, including a nice home win over Salpointe Catholic (50-45). They will face an athletic and improved McClintock (10-7) program in the first round of the state playoffs at home this Thursday.

Rounding out our Top 5 is Centennial High School. Centennial (15-1) has waited for their turn to take their place among the top teams/programs in the state. Once considered a very young team, this group has developed and been together for some time, and are now very deep and tough to beat. After an earlier season loss to Ironwood HS (71-66), their only loss of the season, Centennial has more than bounced back - winning their last (13) games of the season. Centennial has had numerous quality wins, including a big rematch victory over Ironwood (78-49), and also key victories over Apollo, Sunrise Mountain and Millennium. This team is for real and should make a nice run in the state playoffs, and a possible match-up with Catalina Foothills for the 5A State Championship.
