What a season it was for Northern Arizona hoops. We had the state's leading scorer, records were broken, there were 1,000 point scorers and we had a perfect season in the region. Here are my top performers from this year's high school season in the Northern Arizona Region . . .
Northern Arizona Player of the Year - Uriah Tenette
Uriah Tenette 6-0 JR 2025 Prescott High School - Conference Offensive POY, Co-Conference POY; set a school record 48-point game. Had a season for the ages. I’ve seen a lot of great Northern Arizona players over the last 30 years, and Tenette will put his name on top of that list, but that’s for another article. Tenette led the state of Arizona in scoring with 33 points per/game. Tenette led Prescott HS to an undefeated season in the Grand Canyon Region, and also a trip[ to the 4A's Elite 8. Tenette also picked up his first Division-I offer in the process.
Mason Hunt 6-7 SR 2024 Bradshaw Mountain High School - Let's Goat him as the BMHS best player ever. Mase put up 24 points per/game as a senior (10th in the state), and led Bradshaw back to the state playoffs. Hunt broke the school record this season with a 47-point game. Hunt has signed a national letter of intent with 2024 ACCAC D-II Champion Pima Community College.
Zane Gaul 6-10 JR 2025 Prescott High School - Gaul had his best high school season to date, and averaged a double-double with 16.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per/game. Gaul was a game-changer with his shot-blocking and altering shots, and the overall inside presence that he gave his Prescott team. He also improved his overall skillset through stepping outside and hitting the three-ball this season.
Jake Centner 6-6 SR 2024 Flagstaff High School - Centner was the top player in the "The Town," as he led his Flagstaff Eagles on a special trip through Region. The senior averaged 18 points per/game and was relied upon to be the team’s leader all season. "Jakey" is a special player and a great shooter with a high basketball IQ. He will look to commit to a college program soon.
Devon Christian 6-7 SOPH 2026 Lee Williams High School - The top underclassmen in Northern Arizona this season. Averaged an eye-popping 25 points and 12 rebounds as a mere sophomore. Christian broke the school record with a 47-point game this season. A legitimate Division-I prospect.
Tyree Stingley 6-2 JR 2025 Page High School - Stingley was selected as a All-Second Team selection for the 3A Division, after he scored 1,000 points for his career as a junior. A strong inside and outside player that plays the game the right way.
Tyler Tapaha 6-1 JR 2025 Holbrook High School - Tapaha comes from legendary basketball bloodlines and was selected as a 3A First Team Selection this season. Tapaha put up 21.6 points per/game as a junior. At times this season, Tapaha played the point and the center positions for his team - a very versatile player that carried Holbrook to the Region Title. Tapaha can flat out ball - it’s in his blood.
Northern Arizona Coach of the Year - Travis Stedman
Prescott High School Head Coach Travis Stedman is my Northern Arizona Coach of the Year. "Sted" did a phenomenal job leading Prescott to a 23-5 overall record this season, and the program's first Region Title since 2002. Prescott also advanced to the 4A Division's Elite 8 and also had a perfect season in the Grand Canyon Region, while playing a very tough out-of-conference schedule.
