While it has taken some time for us to release our annual Player of the Year nominations in each region of the state of Arizona, here are our selections for these honors, as selected by our amazing and hard-working Arizona Preps staff. We will select our Player(s) of the Year for boys and girls high school basketball in the state of Arizona. Each of our selections will include our top performers throughout the state for the AIA, CAA and prep school divisions, as each selection by our staff will encompass each division for consideration. Here is this year's 2023 selections for our Players of the Years for girl's basketball in the state of Arizona by our Arizona Preps' staff.

We continue our selections with our Player(s) of the Year in each region of the state, as selected by our staff members in those respective areas of the state. We continue with our girls 2023 Arizona Preps Southern Arizona Player of the Year - Salpointe Catholic High School's 6-foot-1 terrific sophomore performer Taliyah Henderson. Henderson was selected by John Millyard of our Arizona Preps' staff after a strong sophomore season, where she performed at a high level all high school season - leading Salpointe Catholic High School to a 22-7 overall record.

Taliyah Henderson (2025 Class) averaged 18.9 points, 1.3 assists, 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per/game, while leading Salpointe to a 4A Kino Region Title, and an Elite Eight appearance in the first Open Division State Tournament. Henderson gained numerous Division-1 offers in her sophomore season.

Henderson will be heading into her junior season with the Lancers, as the top Southern Arizona girls prospect - regardless of class. Congratulations Taliyah on this amazing honor and good luck in your continued basketball future and career from our Arizona Preps' staff.
