One of the most talented and athletically gifted high school prospects in the state of Arizona is Mountain Pointe High School's 6-foot-3, 175-pound sophomore guard Jalen Brown.
A two-sport stud, Brown has a bright future ahead of himself and has quickly made a name for himself within the state of Arizona.
During the high school season Brown is a class act on the football field - currently rated as one of the nation's elite prospects at his position, wide receiver. He is also one of the state's top young talents on the basketball court, and a major contibutor on Mountain Pointe's high school basketball team - averaging 6.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.3 steals and 2.0 blocks per/game this season.
Throughout the spring and summer, Brown is one of the highlights at any football camps or combines he attends, while also competing at a high level in any basketball club events with his talented group of 2014 prospects on the Arizona Magic Pump N' Run.
Brown will have a tough decision to make in the future, as he will receive scholarships from both football and basketball college programs. But the decision should be an easy one for one of the nation's hottest football prospects - a potential future pro in the sport. Like Corona's Avery Moss and Chandler's Kisima Jagne this season, look for Brown to head the football route in college.
Brown already has scholarship offers for football from Arizona, Arizona State and Yale.
As a football prospect, Brown is among the nation's bigger wide receivers. As a basketball prospect, Brown is an athletically gifted guard that plays above the rim and attacks the basket with aggression.
Brown's ability to play in the open floor and slash in traffic make him an attractive basketball prospect as well. He is an excellent rebounder with a serious motor that does not stop. He is an excellent defender and also a strong shotblocker.
Brown does need to develop a more consistent shooting stroke and improve his ball handling to reach his full potential as a player, but his motor and toughness makes him a valuable asset on the basketball floor for any team.
Arizona's 2014 junior class is loaded with some serious talent, and will be the best class in the state in a long time. Brown is one of the best in the class - in either sport.
