The state of Arizona continues to prove itself as one of the premier hotbeds for basketball talent in the country, and another elite national prospect is rapidly becoming a household name. Dream City Christian Prep's Malachi Jordan, a 6-foot-6, 185-pound junior, has firmly established himself as one of the top overall prospects in America’s loaded 2027 class. Currently ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect nationally in the 2027 class by ESPN, Jordan is already separating himself among the nation’s elite prospects after an outstanding junior season while competing on the prestigious Nike EYBL Scholastic League circuit with Dream City Christian Prep.
Malachi Jordan more than proved himself throughout the high school season, showcasing an advanced offensive package, explosive athleticism, and a complete overall game that has made him one of the most coveted prospects in the country. His combination of size, athleticism, scoring ability, and upside for the future has elevated him into elite national status.
Jordan is already off to a tremendous start this spring, while playing with the heavily Adidas-sponsored Oakland Soldiers (CA) program on the Nike EYBL circuit. Against elite national competition, Jordan continues to raise eyebrows with his explosiveness, elite shot-making ability and overall feel for the game.
Currently, Jordan holds an impressive list of Division-I scholarship offers that includes Kansas, Ohio State, Miami, BYU, Washington, Auburn, Alabama, Indiana, Memphis, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Arizona State, Alabama A&M University and University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Jordan is a hot commodity for Division-I programs across the country, as evidenced by his rapidly growing list of high-major scholarship offers. He appears poised to have a massive spring and summer and does not look likely to lose momentum anytime soon.
What makes Jordan so difficult to defend is his advanced skill level combined with extreme explosiveness off the dribble. He possesses a very polished offensive game and is an excellent finisher around the basket. Most importantly, Jordan has a pure shooting stroke with excellent range on his jump shot. He is capable of creating his own shot off the dribble or catching and shooting from virtually anywhere on the floor. His physical size also creates major matchup problems for opposing defenders. At 6-foot-6 with strength, athleticism, and perimeter skill, Jordan is extremely difficult to contain off the bounce and finishes very strong at the rim through contact.
Jordan is the type of player that can elevate an entire college basketball program. His talent level, upside, and versatility make him one of the premier prospects in the country, and I believe he has the potential to become a one-and-done athlete at the collegiate level, before eventually making the leap to the NBA.
I look forward to watching him closely over the spring and summer, as his college recruitment begins to heat up and soar over the next several months. I will bring you any recruiting updates as they continue to develop.
Notes: Look for Malachi Jordan to continue having an outstanding spring and summer while positioning himself as a serious candidate to become a 2027 McDonald’s All-American Game selection. Arizona basketball may also produce several other future McDonald’s All-Americans from the 2027 class. Bella Vista Prep's 6-foot-10 junior Paul Osaruyi is currently ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect nationally, and is a lock to receive the honor. AZ Compass Prep 6-foot-8 standout DeMarcus Henry is currently ranked as the No. 9 overall prospect nationally in the class, and is a strong candidate to become a McDonald's All-American. Another major prospect to watch is 6-foot-11 junior Darius Wabbington from Sunnyslope High School, who is currently ranked No. 20 nationally in the class. As a result, Arizona currently boasts four elite-level prospects with legitimate potential to become future McDonald’s All-Americans - another strong sign that Arizona basketball has become one of the premier recruiting hotbeds in America.
Arizona Preps Scouting Report: Jordan is a serious physical specimen for high school or prep basketball, as he is a major mis-match for opposing defenders, as a result of his serious size, physicality and overall offensive skillset. He can score inside and out, but is primarily a scorer and shooter of the basketball off the dribble. He has excellent explosiveness off the dribble and is a strong finisher at the rim. He has very good athleticism for his size and is a good scorer off the dribble and in transition or in the open floor. A very good ball handler that create for himself and others. A willing passer. A strong rebounder from the wing position. Has good overall versatility as a player. Fundamentally sound. A future pro prospect that is a potential program changer over time. A potential one and done prospect and a potential McDonald's All-American for the class.
