Arizona’s basketball recruiting scene is buzzing, but no announcement made a bigger splash last week than Brody Postorino’s big Division-I commitment and signing. The 6-foot senior point guard from St. Mary’s High School has officially signed with Cal Baptist University, a mid-major Division-I program fresh off an NCAA Tournament run.
Brody’s commitment is monumental. This season, he averaged 16 points and 4.9 assists, while helping lead St. Mary’s to a stellar 23-7 overall record. The Knights finished as runner-up for the Open Division State Championship and earned a coveted spot among MaxPreps’ Top 25 programs nationally, by season's end. As one of the state’s standout floor generals, Brody’s signing with Cal Baptist underscores both his talent and Arizona’s growing prominence in college basketball recruiting. With the flurry of commitments happening across the state, Brody’s big decision raised the bar for what’s shaping up to be another remarkable recruiting season in Arizona for the spring.
Postorino was one of the deadliest shooters in the state throughout his high school career, which began for a very good Notre Dame Prep program that finished with a 25-5 record his sophomore season. He put up good numbers as a sophomore for Notre Dame Prep, but was delegated primarily to shooting three-pointers for a team that was very talented and didn't need him to do much else. For St. Mary's, Postorino was asked to do much more in the Knights' backcourt. Postorino was designated to be a floor general for what was a young backcourt. He also was allowed to show his full skillset as a player.
Postorino also had an excellent showing throughout the spring and summer with the AZ Select club program, which had a lot of success on the club circuit. Postorino was able to play his full game with AZ Select, which benefited the team and, ultimately, his college recruitment.
Congratulations to Brody and his amazing family, as well as the St. Mary's basketball program, and also the AZ Select program on another big signing from their programs.
Arizona Preps Scouting Report: As a college prospect, Postorino is a unorthodox guard prospect with a very nice feel for the game and a unique approach to playing it. You have to watch him closely as a player to fully understand and appreciate his game, which I definitely do. He is a very crafty guard that has a nice knack for scoring the basketball, whether from deep or off the dribble. He has a good handle of the basketball, which is one of his best and most surprising attributes. He can get to where he wants on the floor, and simply makes plays, and on either end of the floor. He plays with a love for the game that is glaring, and he competes hard. While he is still developing as a point guard, what he does best now is shoot the basketball. He has nice range on his unorthodox shooting stroke, but shoots a high percentage from three. He also is a strong driver and finisher of the basketball in the lane. He is a tough defender that competes hard and looks to disrupt opposing guards. He is a very good sleeper guard prospect in a very talented 2026 Class.
