James Sosinski Visits Northridge, Recruiting Update

South Mountain Junior College 6-foot-8, 240-pound rising sophomore post James Sosinski has options for himself this summer.  While he has the option of going back to school next fall as a sophomore in the junior college ranks, Sosinski has elected to head to a division-I program next fall, and has scheduled several recruiting visits for himself to help with making his decision.

Currently, Sosinski is on an official recruiting visit to Cal-State Northridge, and also is planning to take an official recruiting visit this weekend to Jacksonville.  He also has offers from Albany, Central Connecticut State and several other East Coast schools.

Sosinski has indicated that he would like to stay in the West for college.  Sosinski attended UMASS on a football scholarship his freshman season.  Sosinski transferred from UMASS, after red-shirting as a freshman for the football team.  In high school, a graduate of Hamilton HS, Sosinski was a quarterback for the top-rated high school football program in the state.

After becoming eligible at South Mountain over the winter break, Sosinski would receive an offer from Washington State.  While he did not take the offer, the PAC-12 offer seemed to scare away many mid-major programs in the West.

Sosinski was one of the most productive junior college performers in the country last season - averaging a very impressive 19.1 points and 12.6 rebounds per/game.  While South Mountain struggled last season, after winning the Division-II conference title a year earlier, Sosinski kept the team very competitive for the remainder of the season.

Arizona Preps will continue to follow his recruitment very closely this summer, and bring you any recruiting updates as they continue to develop.

Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report:  Sosinski is a true power forward prospect that enjoys physical contact and prefers playing physical.  He is a wide-body and a strong rebounder on both ends of the floor and gets good inside position.  He has become a much better scorer since the high school ranks, since he is very skilled for his size.  His true value on the basketball court comes from his ability to rebound hard and put his body on someone.  He is also a good low-post defender.  He runs the floor hard and with good determination, and is a very good finisher inside the paint.  He gets to the free-throw line quite often and is very productive offensively.  He is a solid shooter of the basketball out to 15 feet, but does most of his work inside and around the paint.  He is a good passer out of the post, and has a high basketball IQ.  Not overly athletic, Sosinski plays the game the right way and does what it takes to win.  He runs the floor hard and is an excellent finisher.  A sound overall prospect that will help any team he plays for, on and off the floor.  An excellent student-athlete.
