One of the most exciting teams to watch are the Lady Eagles of Sandra Day O’Connor. The Lady Eagles are under new leadership with Head Coach Charles Wilson taking over the helm. Historically, the Lady Eagles have been a highly competitive program, and, with Coach Wilson’s impressive resume, O’Connor won’t miss a beat going into this season. Here is our Q&A from our conversation:
Q: What was your overall record last season?
A: My team finished with a 17-6 record last season.

A: Last year’s team lost in the first round to Pinnacle.
Q: How does it feel to be invited to the 2nd Annual Arizona Preps Summer Clash? What makes this event stand out to you and your girls?
A: It feels amazing to be invited to the 2nd Annual Arizona Preps Summer Clash. There are very few events of this caliber for the girls side of basketball in the summer so to be one of the few teams to be invited is a privilege. This event provides a lot of top level competition along with the opportunity for high school girls basketball to be recognized. Promotion, preparation & details for this event are phenomenal Arizona Preps and George Courtney do a great job, becoming one of the must see events in the summer!.
Q: Who are your top players to watch for? Do they have college offers?
A: Top Players to watch include:
- Kaitlyn Elsholz - Class of 2023 (Offer from West Point)
- Thalia Daniels - Class of 2024
- Makaylei (Mak) Snyder - Class of 2023
- Katy Frost - Class of 2023
Q: What is the goal for your team heading into this summer?
A: Our goal over the summer is to build team chemistry - on and off the court. Establish a new culture within the program with our new coaching staff and enjoy the process of it all. Obviously, winning is included in that, but just competing at a high level consistently is another one of our goals. We know if we hold ourselves to that standard everyday, everything else will take care of itself.
We are very pleased to have a team of this caliber compete in the Clash. Coach Wilson is a great coach and will do a phenomenal job continuing the solid basketball tradition at O’Connor. Our tournament field is loaded and can’t wait for tip off on June 3rd.
