The next time up on our preview series is the Peoria Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers are led by Head Coach Rashawn Calvert who took over at the start of last season. Her Lady Panthers have a few prospects that can go. We are excited to have them compete in our event. Here is our Q&A conversation with Coach Calvert:
Q: What was your overall record last season?
A: We finished the 2021-2022 season with an 18-10 record.
Q: How deep into the playoffs did you and your team go?
A: We lost in the first round of 4A state playoffs to Bradshaw Mountain.
Q: How does it feel to be invited to the 2nd Annual Arizona Preps Summer Clash? What makes this event stand out to you and your girls?
A: We are very excited and honored to be able to place these girls in any environment, in which they will compete against high levels, and have the ability to showcase their talents and efforts. Anything that is genuinely promoting the success and advancement of girls basketball makes me happy as a coach.
Q: Who are your top players to watch for? Do they have college offers?
A: Senior Post, Britany Kogbara. No official offers yet but college interests.
Senior Guard, Angelique Moreno. No official offers yet but college interests.
Q: What is the goal for your team heading into this summer?
A: We want to continue to grow our confidence in ourselves and one another while developing skills and learning to be winners.
Coach Calvert has done a great job in molding her team during her inaugural season. We hope her team can use the Summer Clash to get a jumpstart to a deep playoff run this upcoming season. We are grateful and pleased to have the Lady Panthers competing this summer.
