Arizona's 2019 class of prospects is loaded with talent. Chandler Prep 5-foot-9 junior guard Marcus Ruiz is one prospect to take a hard look at in the class, according to Arizona Preps staff writer Derek James.
Ruiz is a 5-foot-9 guard that has an extreme motor and can get after it. He’s one of those guards that will bring you solid defense, is a floor general and hustles on every play during the game. He’s the first on the ground for a loose ball, sacrificing himself for the sake of his team.
While evaluating him, I came to a conclusion that Marcus can play college basketball. He is very skilled and knows how to use his fundamentals to be effective on the basketball court. He lets the game come to him as he continues to create opportunities for his team. He is also a very good shooter of the basketball, and also has no problem playing off the ball, as he has a nice ability to catch and shoot. He can also get to the paint quite well, sees the floor well and has a good feel for the game.
I was impressed with Ruiz' ability to play the game, and I can see him playing at the NAIA level over time, and helping a team succeed. I look forward to watching Ruiz develop over the next year, as he is definitely one to watch in Arizona's 2019 class.
