Fresno, California product, 6-foot-6 rising senior wing Dameane Dougles of Fresno Memorial High School caught my attention in this weekend's Double Pump Summer Tip-Off.
Dougles showed his presence every time he was on the court. Dameane has a lot potential to be a great college player over time. This weekend at the Double Pump tournament he showed outstanding versatility - being able to guard anyone from PG through PF. He has a college frame now, and is very long and athletic. He is also able to create his own shot and finish strong around the rim. He is also a great rebounder with a high motor.
While watching him compete against other talented players this weekend, he proved every game that he was the best player on the court - showing good basketball strength, IQ, rebounding, foot-work, balance and body control, while also being able to score inside.
Once Dougles develops a consistent knock-down jumper, he will be more difficult to contain. He was able to score on players shorter than him, and also bigger defenders through creating space, blowing by defenders or posting up.
This is definitely one prospect to keep a close eye on, and a strong sleeper prospect that I enjoyed watching perform this weekend.
