The Canyon Athletic Association (CAA) is on the rise in the state, and recently selected their 2018-2019 All-State Team.  Here are this year's selections for the team, led by the CAA Player of the Year, 6-foot-11 junior post Fallou Diagne of Tri-City Christian High School, and also the CAA Coach of the Year, Jason Fraser of Skyline Prep.  Here are this year's selections . . .

Player of the Year: Fallou Diagne, Tri-City Christian Junior

Tri-City Christian junior Fallou Diagne (pictured) averaged 18.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.3 blocks per game, while shooting 60% from the field and 72% from the FT line - helping the Warriors to a 24-2 record.  The versatile, 6-foot-11 big man saw a huge improvement from his sophomore year, where he averaged 7.5 points and 6.2 rebounds. Fallou had his best games against the toughest opponents, scoring from all three levels and protecting the paint on the defensive end. Diagne went for 20 points (7-10 FG), 8 rebounds, 3 steals vs state champion Eduprize Prep. Two big games over defending champion Skyline Prep with 34 points (13-18 FG), 13 rebounds, 3 blocks and 25 points (9-13 FG), 11 rebounds, 3 blocks in the State Semi-finals. Fallou put up 26 points (9-12 FG), 12 rebounds, and 7 assists against Bella Vista National Blue and 19 points, 15 rebounds in the State Quarterfinals over Maya HS.

Coach of the Year: Jason Fraser, Skyline Prep

Skyline Prep head coach Jason Fraser was in his first season for the defending state champions.  The Bengals graduated (10) seniors from the previous year, so Fraser had to rebuild the entire varsity roster.  Coach Fraser starred at Villanova in his college playing days and was recently coaching at the professional level before taking over at Skyline Prep.  His team showed dramatic improvement throughout the season.  The team entered the state tournament as the #14 seed and advanced all the way to the state semi-finals - knocking off #3 seed Desert Heights and #6 seed AZ Compass, before falling to #2 seed Tri-City, 66-51.  Skyline Prep finished the season 15-9 with a solid foundation for the future under Coach Fraser.
