Tribal Athletics is working extremely hard to raise the overall exposure of Native American born prospects in the country, as Event Organizer Jon Yarrow Jr. has organized some of the top prospects from the state and around the West for numerous events. On Saturday, Yarrow brought together some of the top middle school prospects for girls and boys together. Here are the top individual girls performers that I observed on Saturday (In no particular order) . . .
Jaziah Billey Chandler, AZ 2025 Class
Billey (pictured) is an absolutely different-looking prospect with loads of talent and a unique offensive skillset for her young age. She has a very pure shooting stroke with excellent range on her shot and a quick release. She is a strong handler of the basketball and can create and penetrate at will - creating for herself and her teammates at a high level. She is a flat-out competitor that plays the game with her game-face on at all times. She is also an excellent defender that locks up defensively. A big-time guard prospect for the future, that will definitely round into a serious Division-I talent over time.
Aliana Garcia Chandler, AZ 2026 Class
Garcia is a skilled prospect with good size already and a good overall skillset. She is a good ball handler and driver of the basketball, and has a good knack for scoring the basketball. Still a little raw offensively, but she has the physical tools and approach to the game that suggests that she will develop a great deal over time. Also a good overall defender that competes. Has good upside.
Demetria Dosela Safford, AZ 2025 Class
A bigger wing prospect with good size already and a nice balance of ability to score inside and out. Can score with either hand around the basket effectively. Can create for herself off the dribble and finish strong at the rim. A good shooter with some range on her shot, and also has a good overall mid-range game. Runs the floor quite well and has some serious upside for the future. Sees the floor well, a good passer with good court vision. Has a chance to become an elite-level talent.
Bernadette Carranza Litchfield Park, AZ 2026 Class
A very skilled guard prospect with an excellent and advanced overall feel for the game. Fundamentally sound on both ends of the floor. The daughter of a coach. Can score with either hand at the basket, and a very good driver and finisher. A very good shooter of the basketball with excellent range and a good overall for the game. Really like this young lady's potential for the future.
Payton Mitchell Chandler, AZ 2026 Class
A fundamentally sound guard prospect with a good handle of the basketball and feel for the game. A good passer with good court vision. An excellent shooter with range on her shot. A strong driver and finisher at the basket. An active rebounder. A good defender that competes. A nice looking guard prospect.
Malia Yazzie Phoenix, AZ 2028 Class
A very skilled and sharp-shooting 5th grader prospect with a very bright future. The daughter of a coach, she is fundamentally sound with a strong handle of the basketball and is a good passer. She has an excellent shooting stroke already and makes shots with range. Fearless.
