Eduprize has long been recognized as one of Arizona’s premier basketball programs, consistently setting a high standard for excellence. Under Christian Polk’s leadership, the program reached new heights, competing on a national stage as part of the prestigious Grind Session. When Polk passed the torch to current Head Coach Ashton Thomas, the program underwent a rebuild while maintaining its tradition of success. Coach Thomas revitalized the team, finding achievements in the Canyon Athletic Association’s Open Division, and competing against top prep schools from across the country on a challenging national schedule.
Most recently, Coach Thomas and his son, AJ Thomas, led the Eagles to an impressive State Title in the 2023-2024 season in the Canyon Athletic Association. Adding to the excitement, AJ Thomas announced his commitment to Loyola Marymount University, selecting LMU after receiving multiple offers from other universities—a testament to his growing recognition and talent.
AJ Thomas, a versatile 6-foot-4 senior point guard, has emerged as a standout player. His ability to score at an elite level, from all three levels of the floor, makes him a nightmare for defenders. Beyond his scoring prowess, Thomas excels as a facilitator, consistently creating scoring opportunities for his teammates with his exceptional court vision and decision-making. His ability to read the game is second to none; his head seems perpetually on a swivel, anticipating plays before they unfold.
After watching him dominate Skyline Prep in a commanding 79-44 victory, it’s clear that AJ Thomas is deserving of national attention. He made the game look effortless, scoring from all areas of the court, while using his high basketball IQ and awareness to disrupt the opposition. His knack for picking off passes and turning them into instant scoring opportunities was a highlight of the game. Additionally, his active rebounding and relentless energy contributed to his all-around impact on both ends of the floor.
AJ Thomas is undoubtedly one of the top point guards in the country, and following his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. As Eduprize continues to grow under Coach Thomas’s leadership, the future looks incredibly bright for both the program and AJ.
