The Hoop Circuit organization is on another level, as they are coming off a very successful July Evaluation Period, where the organization hosted several attractive events which were filled with club teams from all over the country. As a result, The Hoop Circuit has quickly become one of the top event organizers in the country behind the strong and experienced leadership of Northwest basketball aficionado James Johnson.
This weekend, The Hoop Circuit and Tournament Director James Johnson brought together a nice group of college coaches, scouts, and media to Portland, Oregon for their Prospect Camp. The camp featured (175) different individual campers from the Northwest Region of the country. Arizona Preps was in attendance for this weekend's exciting camp event, and here are my top overall underclassmen performers from the weekend (In no particular order) . . .
Zoom Diallo 6-3 SOPH PG/SG Curtis High School (OR) - 2024 Class
Dialo is a very skilled and tough combo-guard prospect with very good size and a nice overall feel for the game. He has an excellent ability to score the basketball off the dribble. An excellent creator off the dribble and facilitator off the dribble. A good shooter with range on his shot, and able to score off the dribble on his jump shot or get to the basket and finish strong. Has a nice hesitation dribble and change of speed which allows him to get his defenders off balance. An efficient scorer. An excellent ball handler with an ability to make plays at any time in the offense. A very good passer that pushes the ball ahead. Resembles a young Lance Stephenson- NBA. Has a very bright future ahead.
Austin Maurer 6-10 SOPH PF/C Cascade Christian High School (OR) - 2024 Class
A long and length post prospect with an advanced offensive skillset that allows him to score inside, and also shoot the basketball with a pure shooting stroke with range. Has a soft touch out to three-point distance. Still very thin physically but will grow into his body over time. A good rebounder that competes, but will only continue to improve in this area, over time, as he matures physically. Runs the floor. Has good versatility. A good shotblocker. A good passer. Plays very unselfish. Has superior upside for the future. A big-time future prospect.
Miles Goodman 6-8 SOPH PF O'dea High School (OR) - 2024 Class
A bigger bodied low post prospect with good size and length. He has loads of upside and is still growing a great deal. Has a good overall skill level. A good shooter with range. Has good low-post footwork. Has solid low-post moves and still raw offensively, but will develop a great deal over time. Runs the floor well. A solid finisher, but still needs to get physically stronger and more explosive to maximize his ability to finish inside. Has room to grow. An active rebounder. A capable shotblocker. Has really good potential over time.
Luke Westerfield 6-9 SOPH PF/C Richland High School (WA) - 2024 Class
Westerfield is a very big low-post talent for his age, and has a big body with broad shoulders. Has upside and serious potential for the future. Has a solid overall skill level, but still raw offensively. He will develop a great deal over time. Runs the floor. A solid finisher now. A good passer out of the post. A good rebounder that keeps the ball up high.
Collin Moore 6-2 SOPH Summit High School (OR) - 2024 Class
Moore is a very fundamentally sound and skilled guard prospect. Well beyond his years as a player. Very mature. Has a strong, athletic frame. An excellent shooter with a quick release on his shot and unlimited range. A very good ball handler and passer. A good team defender that understands angles. A tough competitor. Has a bright future.
Winters Grady 6-6 FR SF/PF Lake Oswego High School (OR) - 2025 Class
A nice surprise in the camp. A mere 2025 prospect that made a statement in the camp. A very skilled performer with a nice ability to make plays for himself. Has a very good overall skill level that is advanced. Able to create his own shot off the dribble and make shots from the perimeter, or take defenders off the dribble and finish strong at the rim. Strong rebounder. Runs the floor very well. Still needs physical maturity to tone up his frame, but he can become special over time.
Drew Hall 6-1 FR SG South Medford High School (OR) - 2025 Class
A skilled guard prospect with a good skill level and fundamentally sound. A good shooter with range - has a pure shooting stroke. Competes hard on both ends. A good ball handler and passer. An active defender, will take charges. Has excellent work ethic and loves the game. Will develop nicely over time.
Jayce Swanson 5-9 FR PG Gonzaga Prep (WA) - 2025 Class
A smaller, compact guard prospect with a nice shooting stroke with range. Has a quick release and can get his shot off quite well. A very good ball handler that pushes the basketball. A good passer that sees the floor. Plays with superior confidence. Has good potential for a smaller guard prospect.
Jacey Canalin 5-6 SOPH PG Ida B Wells High School (OR) - 2024 Class
A very skilled floor general point guard prospect with a strong handle of the basketball and a pure shooting stroke with excellent range and consistency. Left hander with a quick release on his shot. Very skilled and able to get to anywhere he wants to on the floor. A good finisher for his size. Pushes the ball up the floor to the open man. A very good facilitator. Excellent defender that plays passing lanes and has quick hands and feet.
Isaiah Koehnke 5-10 FR PG Regis High School (CO) - 2025 Class
A skilled but smaller guard prospect with very good work ethic and a nice overall skill level. While a smaller guard prospect, Koehnke is tough and plays aggressive on both ends of the floor. A good ball handler and passer that sees the floor. A good shooter with range.
