The exciting Pangos Premier 80 Showcase took place last weekend on the campus of AZ Compass Prep, and was absolutely loaded with talent. Tournament Director and top-rated national basketball scout Dinos Trigonis continues to bring his amazing exposure events to the state of Arizona, and our Arizona Preps' staff was on hand to catch much of the action this weekend. There were numerous breakout performances from the event, and here are my top individual performers from the event (In no particular order) . . .
Aiden Shaw 6-8 JR PF Blue Valley HS (KS) - 2022 Class
Shaw was one of the elite overall prospects in the event, and is one of the elite overall prospects in America's 2022 Class. An ultra long and rangy prospect with superior athleticism and motor. Dunks everything over and around defenders. An absolute beast around the basket. Runs the floor hard and is an excellent finisher. A good shooter with range also. Needs work on his handle and ability to create own shot, but is a tremendous talent that could see a McDonald's nod over time.
Christian Ubochi 6-9 SR PF Meter Dei HS (CA) - 2021 Class
Ubochi is a strong 4/5 prospect with excellent length of body and a nice, college-ready frame. A tough hard-nosed post prospect that attempts to dunk everything in the paint, but has a soft touch from mid-range. Also capable of stepping outside and making shots, but does his best work inside. Runs the floor hard and is a very strong finisher. A very good shotblocker. A serious post prospect that will play immediately in college.
Corey Cofield 6-5 SR SG/SF West Ranch HS (CA) - 2021 Class
An electric and explosive athlete with a superb ability to finish plays at the rim and over defenders. A big-time athlete and finisher. A good mid-range shooter that has added range to his shot, which keeps defenses honest. Does not have a true position, simply gets a lot done on the floor and makes plays at a high level. A good ball handler. A good creator and finisher in the lane. Excellent in the open floor. Has a strong, athletic frame. An excellent defender. Will play immediately in college. Has a very bright future.
Jeremiah Nyarko 6-8 JR SF/PF St. John Bosco HS (CA) - 2022 Class
Nyarko is a big-time talent with excellent size and versatility for a wing, but he is able to play as a 3 or 4 on the floor, and can stretch. A good shooter with range, and has a good overall mid-range game. An active rebounder and shotblocker. A good ball handler and passer for his size. A good overall defender. Runs the floor well and is an excellent finisher. A nice looking prospect for the 2022 Class, and one of the better prospects in the country.
Jamiyah Neal 6-6 SR PG/SG/SF Hillcrest Prep - 2021 Class
Neal (pictured) had the best breakout performance on the day. A big-time athlete with excellent length and athleticism that makes him very attractive. Capable of playing several positions on the floor, and can even lead your team from the point position. A big-time finisher in transition, open floor or slashing to the basket. His length allows him to make the game look easy. A very good shooter with excellent range on his shot. A very good ball handler and passer. Excellent on-the-ball defender. Received an offer from Arizona State after his performance from Bob Hurley. An excellent sleeper prospect on the rise.
Nate Santos 6-7 SR SF Loomis Chafee HS (CT) - 2021 Class
Santos is a very strong and well-built wing prospect with a sharp shooting stroke and a good overall feel for the game. Has a superior college-ready body. An excellent shooter with excellent range on his shot. A strong finisher in the paint and around the rim. An active rebounder. A good ball handler for his size. A solid passer. Runs the floor well and is good in the open floor. Has a bright future, and is a very good sleeper prospect.
Brayden Carter 6-8 SR PF J.K. Mullen HS (CO) - 2021 Class
A very long and athletic 4-man that uses his length of body to make and finish plays around the rim. A very good finisher that needs to improve body to maximize his potential. A good slasher. Good jump hook and low post player. OK shooter from perimeter but needs work. Very good rebounder and shotblocker. Runs the floor very well. Active shotblocker. Has serious upside. A serious sleeper prospect with no D-I offers to his credit, yet.
Elijah Thomas 6-5 SR SF Valley Vista HS - 2021 Class
Thomas is a superb athletic talent with good overall versatility. He has excellent length of body and a nice overall skillset, that will improve over time a great deal with maturity and more physical strength. A good shooter that has some range. An excellent slasher. A good finisher that will get better with maturity. Has a good overall handle and ability to create his own shot. A solid passer. A very good defender that plays passing lanes. Needs to improve motor. A solid rebounder. Plays passing lanes. A very good sleeper prospect for the 2021 Class.
Joseph "Jo Jo" Hunter 6-5 JR SF San Joaquin HS (CA) - 2022 Class
A very strong and athletic performer with excellent versatility and defensive prowess that makes him a valuable asset to any team. Has excellent athleticism and is a very strong finisher at the rim. A utility player that plays all over the floor with no true position. Excellent defender. Active rebounder. Very good shotblocker. Has serious potential and is someone on the rise.
Drew Carter 6-3 SR PG/SG Tigard HS (OR) - 2021 Class (University of Colorado commit)
Carter is a big-time two-sport athlete, as he is a football and basketball star from Oregon. A skilled and sharp-shooting guard prospect that can facilitate and makes players around him better. Plays at a very good pace. A good finisher. Plays with superior confidence. Will sign with the University of Colorado.
Dasean Lecque 6-1 JR PG Desert Vista HS (2022 Class)
Lecque continues to impress a great deal with his unique ability to score and make plays. He has also shown much improved athleticism, which now allows him to finish easily above the rim, which is very intriguing for a prospect of his size. A big-time scorer and play-maker that enjoys having the basketball in his hands and scoring the basketball. Need to continue to see him facilitate for others to maximize his potential as a player.
Bailon Black 6-5 SR SG Ironwood HS - 2021 Class (Northern Colorado commit)
Black is a sharp-shooting, bigger guard prospect with a long, rangy frame that has serious upside. He is a big-time shooter with range, and plays with super confidence in his approach. Plays with excellent pace. Makes the game look easy, suggesting he will really develop over time. Has nice improving athleticism. A good ball handler and passer. Serious upside and a bright future ahead, but needs to play with a better motor.
David Elliott 6-3 SR PG/SG Birmingham HS (CA) - 2021 Class (Loyola Marymount commit)
Elliott is a skilled combo-guard prospect with a good overall feel for the game and a knack for scoring the basketball. A good facilitator. A good shooter with range, but needs to add some more consistency from longer ranges. A very good mid-range performer. A very good ball handler and passer. A very good defender. Pushes the basketball. A strong finisher.
AJ Storr 6-5 JR SF Bishop Gorman HS (NV) - 2022 Class
Storr is an athletic and skilled wing prospect with good overall versatility. A good scorer and finisher. A solid shooter. A good slasher. Active rebounder. A good ball handler. Has good overall versatility. A good looking prospect for the 2022 Class.
Alex Horiuk 6-11 SR C Jesuit HS (CA) - 2021 Class
A large post prospect with excellent size and good potential for the future. Still raw offensively, but has some good physical tools to build on. Has a large, athletic frame and is a strong finisher around the basket. Has decent footwork. Runs the floor well. Blocks and changes shots. Has good upside and is getting better each time I see him. A good looking post prospect with excellent size that will improve.
Collin Chandler 6-4 JR SG Farmington HS (UT) - 2022 Class
An electric guard prospect with a variety of offensive skillsets that allow him to make plays with an excellent motor. Has excellent bounce off the floor and is a strong finisher at the rim. An excellent shooter with unlimited range on his shot. A very good ball handler and passer. Pushes the ball up the floor and is a very good passer. A good defender that plays passing lanes. Active rebounder. Has good overall toughness. A very good lookign prospect with offers from Stanford and Utah, after an MVP performance in the Pangos All-West Camp this fall.
Tsalta (TJ) Wainwright 6-3 SR PG/SG Westchester HS (CA) - 2021 Class
A very skilled combo-guard prospect with a nice overall feel for the game and an ability to make shots with excellent range. A left hander. Very skilled and played with good command-presence on the court. A very good penetrator and finisher. Good ball handler and passer. Good overall defender and competitor.
Mason Hanback 6-10 JR PF/C East HS (TN) - 2022 Class
A long post prospect that has good versatility and mobility. Very thin physically, so still needs a body to maximize his potential and production on the floor. A solid low-post scorer. A good finisher. Solid footwork. OK shooter out to 15 - 18 feet. Runs the floor well. A good rebounder with length. A good shotblocker. Has upside.
AK Okere 6-6 SR SF/PF Clovis North HS (CA) - 2021 Class
Okere is an athletic talent with a strong physical frame and a nice overall motor. Has a resemblance to NBA forward Jeff Green as a player. A skilled 3/4 prospect with excellent length and an ability to finish strong around the rim and in the paint. A good low post player. Has a solid shooting stroke out to 18 feet. An active rebounder and shotblocker. Runs the floor hard. A strong finisher. Good overall prospect with a college-ready body.
Terrance Dixon 6-8 JR PF Desert Vista HS - 2022 Class
Dixon recently moved to Arizona from Georgia. A very long and athletic 4-man prospect that is a very good finisher for his size. Has a solid jump hook. OK footwork. Needs serious work on his offensive skills to become more effective, but finishes well, as a result of his length. An active rebounder. A very good shotblocker. Runs the floor very well. Has serious upside and broad shoulders.
Preston Squire 6-11 SR PF/C Layton HS (UT) - 2021 Class
Squire is a taller 4/5 prospect with good overall versatility and an ability to make plays around the rim, and can stretch. Runs the floor quite well. An active rebounder and capable shotblocker. Solid low-post scorer. Has some upside. Has good overall potential over time.
Devontes Cobbs 6-4 JR SG Eduprize Prep - 2022 Class
Cobbs is a superb athletic talent that plays all over the floor and in the open floor. Has improved his perimeter shooting stroke with range. A good facilitator that enjoys making plays for others. An active rebounder. Excellent slasher and finisher. Very good defender that plays passing lanes.
Jorge Ochoa 6-7 JR PF Eduprize Prep (AZ) - 2022 Class
Recently transferred to Eduprize from La Mirada HS (CA). A good looking stretch 4-man that has very good overall versatility. A good shooter with range on his shot. Has a good mid-range game, and is very effective 15 feet and in. A good low-post scorer. A strong rebounder and finisher. Has good overall athleticism and a strong body. Runs the floor well. A good ball handler and passer. Good overall sleeper prospect.
Dylan Glover 6-4 JR SG Bryan HS (TX) - 2022 Class
Ab excellent shooter with unlimited range and a quick release on his shot. Turned in one of the best performances of the day. Has a strong, well built frame. A solid athlete. A good ball handler and passer. Good facilitator. Plays with excellent confidence. A good finisher. Solid defender. Fundamentally sound and a winner.
Jack Groeteke 6-10 SR PF Dowling Catholic HS (IA) - 2021 Class
Groeteke is a longer post prospect with good mobility and versatility. Still a bit raw offensively, but he is skilled and can stretch the floor. A good low post scorer with a good jump hook. Has excellent length, which allows him to change/block shots. Active rebounder and shotblocker. Runs the floor well. Has extreme upside and potential for the future. A good sleeper prospect.
Colin Carey 6-6 SR SG/SF Sunrise Mountain HS - 2021 Class
A bigger guard/wing prospect with good overall athleticism and bounce. Has a very good shooting stroke with excellent range on his shot. Has excellent overall size for a guard/forward. An active finisher. A good rebounder with good overall toughness. A good ball handler and passer. Good in the open floor. Has very good upside. A good sleeper prospect.
Jalen Pitre 6-9 JR SF/PF Long Beach Poly HS (CA) - 2022 Class (Pepperdine commit)
A skilled, bigger prospect that is able to play inside and out. Has good overall versatility as a prospect. A good facilitator and a very good ball handler for his size. Good in the open floor. A solid shooter with some range. A strong finisher. Can create off the dribble. Strong rebounder. Solid defender. Has a good future. A good overall prospect.
Ahmed Mohamed 6-0 JR PG Apollo HS - 2022 Class
A very good floor general point guard prospect with command presence on the court. A strong ball handler and passer that plays with excellent confidence. A very good shooter with range and a nice mid-range jump shot that sets up his defenders for strong drives to the basket. A good finisher. Plays with very good pace. A good passer. Pushes the basketball. Good in the open floor. Had a nice breakout performance in the event.
