The Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp took place recently in St. George, Utah, @ The Nets on Fire facility, and was comprised of the top freshman and sophomore prospects in the West. Arizona Preps again made the trip to Utah to cover the event in it's entirety, where there were more than 220+ prospects in participation for the camp. This annual camp, organized by top-rated national basketball scout Dinos Trigonis, has been instrumental in identifying the top young prospects in the West annually, and for more than 20+ years. Top-rated prospects from this camp have gone on to become serious Division-I prospects at the high-major level.
Here is Part II of my top prospects from from the 2023 and 2024 classes from this year's exciting event, which was absolutely loaded with college prospects for the future (In no particular order) . . .
Arman Madi 6-6 SOPH SG/SF Brophy Prep HS (AZ) 2023 Class
Madi (pictured is a very athletic wing prospect with an ability to play very well in the open floor and make plays for himself and others, while being a potential human highlight reel for the future, as a result of his extreme bounce and lift off the floor. Madi is just beginning to realize his own potential for the future. A good shooter with range on his shot. A good ball handler and passer. An active rebounder. A strong slasher and finisher. Has excellent potential for the future.
Jeremiah Whitmore 6-6 SOPH SF Centennial HS (CA) 2023 Class
A very athletic wing prospect that competes and is a strong finisher and slasher to the basket. An excellent open court player. Runs the floor hard. An OK shooter. A solid ball handler. OK passer. Does not need the basketball to impact the game. A very good defender. A good looking prospect with upside.
Varick Lewis 6-3 SOPH PG/SG Monterey Trail HS (CA) 2023 Class
A very athletic and skilled combo-guard prospect with tons of potential for the future. A strong ball handler that can create off the dribble and get where he wants to on the floor. Made a defender fall down during the Top 30 Cream of the Crop All-Star game, which brought the crowd in attendance to their feet. Has very good size for the guard position. An excellent creator and pentetrator with the ball, and a strong finisher. A good shooter of the ball with nice range on his shot. A good passer that sees the floor. A good overall defender with quick hands and feet. A nice looking guard prospect.
Brady Dunlap 6-7 SOPH SF Harvard-Westlake HS (CA) 2023 Class
A skilled, bigger wing prospect that is able to play as a 2/3. A very good shooter with excellent range on his shot. A good ball handler and passer. An excellent creator off the dribble, that is very shifty and difficult to defend. A good finisher. Good rebounder. Runs the floor. Has a bright future and is a very good looking prospect.
Jazz Gardner 6-11 SOPH C Los Altos HS (CA) 2023 Class
A long, rangy post prospect with excellent size and length already. A good shooter for his size, with a soft touch from the perimeter. A good low post scorer. Has good overall footwork. A good rebounder and shotblocker. Runs the floor well. A strong finisher. Has excellent upside and potential for the future. A high-major prospect with a bright future.
Osiris Grady 6-7 SOPH PF Coronado HS (NV) 2023 Class
A post prospect with very good size and length. Has a good overall skill level for a young post prospect. Has good versatility. Has good athleticism, and is a strong finisher around the basket. Very active. Runs the floor hard. Active rebounder and shotblocker. Good scorer inside and out. Competes. A good overall looking post prospect with a bright future.
Jurian Dixon 6-4 SOPH SG/SF San Ysidro HS (CA) 2023 Class
A very long and athletic wing prospect that is an excellent slasher and finisher for his size. Does not need the basketball to make plays. A strong finisher. Excellent in the open floor. An active rebounder and finisher. Runs the floor hard. Has good overall versatility. A good shotblocker. A very good defender that plays passing lanes - one of his best attributes. A solid shooter. A good passer. Does not have a true position, but gets a lot done.
Gavin Hightower 6-0 8th Grader PG Heritage Christian (CA) 2025 Class
An electric point guard prospect with a ton of talent and skill for his extremely young age. An exceptional ball handler and passer that can get anywhere he wants to on the floor. Pushes the basketball. Loves to have the ball in his hands and make plays. A very good defender with quick hands. A leader. Has a very bright future.
Justin Daniels 6-4 SOPH SG Mater Dei HS (CA) 2023 Class
A bigger guard prospect with good size as a combo-guard. A good shooter with range. A good ball handler and passer. A very good rebounder from the guard position. Has a good overall feel. Good scorer.
Darrell Morris 5-8 FR PG Renaissance Academy (CA) 2024 Class
A very quick guard prospect with a strong handle of the basketball - able to make plays off the dribble. A strong penetrator and creator off the dribble. A good passer. A good finisher in the lane. Pushes the basketball up the floor. A good shooter with range. Difficult to defend for opposing guards.
Ty Hendler 6-3 SOPH PG/SG La Costa Canyon HS (CA) 2023 Class
A bigger guard prospect that is able to play both guard positions on the floor. A very good ball handler and creator off the dribble. A strong finisher. Fundamentally sound with a high overall skill level. A very good shooter with range. Has a good overall mid-range game. A good rebounder. A very good passer that sees the floor. A solid all-around guard prospect.
Sebastian Mack 6-2 SOPH SG Durango HS (NV) 2023 Class
A very athletic guard prospect that slashes and finishes at the basket. Very good in the open court, where he thrives. A good shooter but needs to improve the range on his shot to maximize his potential as a player. An active rebounder. A good ball handler. A good passer. A very good defender.
Amari Davis 6-6 FR SF Grant Union HS (CA) 2024 Class
A skilled, longer wing prospect with good overall size. Has a long wingspan. A very good ball handler and passer that can create off the dribble. A good slasher and finisher. An active rebounder. A solid shooter. Good finisher. Runs the floor. Has good work ethic.
Taj DeGourville 6-4 FR SG/SF Durango HS (NV) 2024 Class
A bigger guard/wing prospect with good overall size. Has a long wingspan. A very good shooter with nice range on his shot. A good ball handler. A solid passer. A good rebounder. Good rebounder. Good finisher.
Troy Perry 6-2 FR SG Harvard-Westlake HS (CA) 2024 Class
A good scorer of the basketball with a scorer's mentality. A good shooter, but is at his best from mid-range. A good scorer around the basket. A good ball handler that can create off the dribble. A good finisher. A good rebounder from the guard position. A solid passer, but enjoy scoring the basketball. Has extreme upside for the future.
Sterling Knox 6-4 SOPH SG Durango HS (NV) 2023 Class
Knox is a very skilled guard prospect with an excellent feel for the game. A very good shooter with excellent range on his shot. A very good ball handler and passer that sees the floor. Very fundamentally sound. Has strong potential for the future. A good finisher. A solid defender. A good rebounder.
Parker Friedrichsen 6-4 SOPH SG Bixby HS (OK) 2023 Class
A skilled, bigger guard prospect with a very thin physical frame and a high overall skill level. An excellent shooter with range and a quick release on his shot. A very good slasher and finisher. A very good ball handler that can make plays off the dribble. A very good passer that sees the floor. A strong finisher. Good in the open floor. Has good overall physical strength, despite his thin frame. An active rebounder.
Evan Tatum 6-4 SOPH SF/PF Desert Pines HS (NV) 2023 Class
A strong 3/4 prospect that is able to score inside and out. A strong low-post player for his size. Has good low-post footwork. A good shooter with a soft touch. A strong finisher around the basket. An active rebounder. Run the floor. A good passer. Solid defender.
Cole Ellena 6-9 FR PF/C Liberty HS (NV) 2024 Class
A good-looking post prospect with a long wingspan and length of body. Can score inside and out and has a soft touch from the perimeter. Can score with his back to the basket. A good rebounder. A good shotblocker. Runs the floor well. A good finisher around the basket. Has upside.
Maurice Wright 6-3 SOPH PG Santa Clarita Christian HS (CA) 2023 Class
A bigger PG prospect with excellent size and a nice overall feel for the game. An excellent ball handler and passer that sees the floor. Able to get to anywhere he wants to on the floor. Fundamentally sound and very skilled. A strong finisher. An excellent defender. Pushes the basketball. A Sam Cassell type (NBA). A very good creator for himself and others. A very good looking guard prospect.
Kollen Murphy 6-2 SOPH SG Colony HS (CA) 2023 Class
A very thin physically guard prospect with a nice, left-handed shooting stroke with range. A combo-guard prospect. A good ball handler. Good passer. Solid defender.
Tommy Brascia 6-8 SOPH PF Durango HS (NV) 2023 Class
A skilled low-post prospect with an advanced skill level. Has very good low-post footwork. Has good overall athleticism. A very strong finisher around the basket. Has a soft touch from the perimeter. Run the floor. Very good rebounder. Plays with good activity - has good work ethic.
Derek Sangster 6-5 SOPH SF/PF Archbishop Mitty HS (CA) 2023 Class
