One of the elite overall prospects in Arizona's talented 2019 Class is Shadow Mountain High School's gifted and skilled 5-foot-10, 165-pound sophomore point guard Jovan Blacksher.  Blacksher is a unique guard talent that is coming off a superb sophomore season for himself, and is now taking his game to the national aau/club circuit, and, as a result, is beginning to generate loads of division-I interest for himself.

Blacksher is playing this club season with the highly Adidas-sponsored Compton Magic club basketball program, and will be gaining loads of exposure with the program while playing on the Adidas Gauntlet basketball circuit against top-rated national competition.

As a result of his recent performance on the circuit, Blacksher has already generated two different scholarship offers for himself - receiving offers from Cal-State Northridge and UC-Davis, his first two different division-I offers.  Look for Blacksher to receive many more scholarship offers throughout the club season, as this young man is a rare find - a true point guard with an advanced skillset.

Last high school season was another very successful one for Blacksher, as he helped lead the Matadors to their second-consecutive state title, this one in the 4A Division after winning the Division-II state title the year previously.  While sharing the backcourt with high-powered senior guard Marcus Shaver and fellow 2019 guard prospect Jaelen House, Blacksher still made his presence felt every night - providing big-time scoring support, excellent defensive pressure on opposing guards and an ability to run the team efficiently.

Shadow Mountain (27-1) would not lose a game in Arizona all high school season.  Shadow would eventually lose their first game of the high school season - falling to Montverde 74-61 at New York's Christ the King High School in the opening round of the Dick's Nationals Basketball Tournament on ESPN.

I really enjoy watching this young man perform, and look for many more college coaches to begin to take notice of Blacksher over time.  We will keep you posted as Blacksher's recruitment continues to unfold.

Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report:  Blacksher is a unique talent in the state of Arizona.  While Blacksher is a smaller point guard prospect, he is a unique talent in the state of Arizona - a highly skilled and talented point guard with an ability to make plays for himself and others almost at will and with flare.  This young man is fun to watch perform as he possesses a superb handle of the basketball, excellent court vision and body control, which allows for him to get into the lane when he wants to and make plays at a high level level.  He also possesses a nice shooting stroke with excellent range on his shot and a quick release - making him very difficult for opposing guards to defend.  Blacksher is a rare find in the state of Arizona, as he possesses a high level of self-confidence in his play, which rubbs off on his teammates and makes players around him much better.  He is a high-powered guard prospect that plays much bigger than his size suggests, and is a one-man press-breaker that is dificult to defend.  An excellent passer and playmaker.  An excellent on-the-ball defender that is capable of becoming a lock-down defender at the next level.  Plays passing lanes and gets his hands on the basketball often.  A superb young guard prospect that has a true position, which will benefit him nicely in his college recruitment over time.
