Arizona prep school programs continue to bring in loads of top-notch Division-I talent annually, and has taken the state of Arizona basketball to entirely a new level. One of these top-rated prospects has become one of the hottest prospects in the country this fall, and is a mere 2024 prospect. Hillcrest Prep's 6-foot-9, 185-pound sophomore forward Jason Asemota is a sure-fire big-time prospect for the future, and his future is beginning early among some of the top college basketball programs in America, as he has received loads of Division-I offers this fall.
Asemota is an impressive prospect with excellent size and versatility already, and only a sophomore prospect. He has really developed early on and has an advanced offensive skillset, which allows him to score effectively from inside and out. He has a nice, pure shooting stroke with range on his shot and an ability to score off the dribble or from the standstill, catch-and-shoot position. Fundamentally sound, Asemota is a strong driver of the basketball as well at 6-9 in height, and is a strong finisher already for his youth. He also possesses a good overall mid-range game - rarely found in today's young prospects. Asemota is a superb overall athletic talent that is still growing into his frame, and has the ability early on to suggest that he will become an elite national talent and a definite pro over time.
"He is in the same tier as (DeAndre) Ayton and (Marvin) Bagley," said Hillcrest Prep's Nick Weaver.
Hillcrest Prep is known consistently for producing loads of Division-I talent and even professionals. Asemota will continue the trend, especially if he spends the next (3) years at Hillcrest Prep, as expected. Asemota already has a long list of offers for himself, as a result, as Auburn, Ohio State, TCU, Florida, Oregon, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Georgia, Nevada, UC Santa Barbara, UMASS and Stony Brook have each already extended offers to the gifted young prospect. Expect many more offers to roll in over time and over the next few years. I expect that Asemota will become a Top 25 national prospect over time, and should be already. As scouts and media get to see and know this young man, it will be just a matter of time.
A native of Lynn, MA, Asemota will be entering his sophomore season for Hillcrest Prep this high school season, and will look to make an immediate splash on a loaded ballclub. Asemota spent last season at Brewster Academy (NH), and will be bringing his talents to the West. He has already blossomed since being out here, as he continues to garner recruitment and offers almost on a daily / weekly basis.
I will continue to look forward to watching Asemota develop and become one of the top overall 2024 prospects in the country.
