Phoenix, AZ — SSS Academies / Fire-n-Ice Arena proudly announces the hiring of George “GC3” Courtney III as its new Director of Basketball Operations, bringing one of the West Coast’s most respected basketball minds into a key leadership role.
Courtney has built a strong reputation nationally as a premier basketball scout and evaluator. His detailed player evaluations and event coverage have been widely utilized and respected by college coaches and national scouting services across multiple platforms, including Arizona Preps, GC3 Hoops Magazine, Nothin But Net Magazine, Prep Girls Hoops, and Prep Hoops.
In addition to his scouting expertise, Courtney has played an instrumental role in the development and growth of several premier national basketball events. His contributions include involvement with high-profile showcases and tournaments such as the I Mua Invitational, Honolulu Hoops Showcase, Central Arizona Holiday Classic, Fear the Hop, Tribe Athletics Native American Jr. Nationals, Pangos, and Gems in the Gym Fresh Faces—all recognized for providing elite exposure opportunities for student-athletes.
Courtney’s background extends beyond scouting into program development, event operations, and athlete advancement, making him a valuable asset in building a comprehensive basketball ecosystem at SSS Academies.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Management from Grand Canyon University and a Master’s degree in Athletic Coaching Education from Ball State University.
In his new role, Courtney will oversee basketball operations, including program development, recruiting strategy, event integration, and player development initiatives, helping position SSS Academies / FirenIce Arena as a premier destination for elite basketball training and exposure.
SSS Academies leadership expressed confidence that Courtney’s vision, experience, and national network will elevate the academy’s basketball program and create new opportunities for student-athletes both regionally and nationally.
