Demarcus Henry, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound junior in the 2027 class, has become one of the most heavily recruited players in the country after a big season on the national stage, and a recent high national ranking from ESPN in America's 2027 Class. Currently ranked as the No. 9 overall player in America’s 2027 class by ESPN, Henry has seen his recruitment absolutely explode this spring, as he received several elite high major Division-I offers this weekend.
His national ranking has steadily improved since arriving at AZ Compass Prep from Santa Ana, California, where he was already regarded as a standout performer with tremendous upside. This past season, Henry came up huge for AZ Compass Prep throughout the Nike EYBL Scholastic League - helping lead the program to a No. 1 national ranking during the season. AZ Compass Prep ultimately finished among the top prep school programs in America and advanced to the semi-finals of the Nike EYBL Scholastic Championship, before falling to Montverde Academy (FL) in overtime, one of the nation’s premier prep basketball programs.
Since the end of the season, Henry’s recruitment has skyrocketed to another level. Just this past weekend alone, Henry picked up offers from University of Kentucky, University of North Carolina and University of Arkansas - three of the biggest offers any high school prospect can receive. Those offers now join an already loaded list of offers that includes University of Washington, Louisville, West Virginia, BYU, Mississippi State, Xavier, LSU, USC, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Cincinnati, UNLV and Oregon.
Henry is currently playing on the Nike EYBL circuit with Vegas Elite (NV), one of the premier Nike-sponsored club programs in the country. There, he has teamed up alongside elite 2028 prospect Adan Diggs, and the combination of Diggs and Henry has quickly become must-see basketball for college coaches across the country. College programs are lining up to evaluate the talented duo, and for Henry, it has already translated into numerous elite high-major Division-I scholarship offers.
Henry is a very intriguing prospect. At 6-foot-8, he is long, rangy, and possesses an excellent skill level that allows him to play both inside and out. Primarily, Henry enjoys handling the basketball and creating plays off the dribble, but over the last year he has also shown tremendous improvement as a rebounder and finisher around the basket. He has the ability to create offense for himself and teammates and continues to expand his overall game at a rapid pace. He plays with good overall energy and is very skilled offensively. A left hander, Henry is a good shooter from three-point distance and has improved his shot over the past year, while also being able to make plays off the dribble and finish in traffic. He is a strong driver and finisher, and is a very good scorer in the transition and in the open court. An active rebounder and shot-blocker as a result of his length and timing.
