The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) has released this year's Open Division State Playoff brackets for boy's high school basketball. The brackets were released this morning in exciting fashion online with an exciting show presented by the AIA.
Leading the pack is #1 ranked Sunnyslope High School, who was selected as the No. 1 seed. #2 ranked Millennium High School follows as the #2 seed, while St. Mary’s High School and Basha High School round out the top four seeds.
The first-round matchups are already generating buzz, as #9 seed Mesa will take on #24 seed Scottsdale Saguaro High School in a first-round match-up. #3 St. Mary’s will face #30 Perry High School, a three-time state champion. Another exciting first-round pairing features #15 Chandler High School against #18 Cactus Shadows High School.
Winners will move forward in the Open Division, while teams that fall short will return to their respective 4A, 5A, or 6A brackets to continue competing for a title.
