No prospect blew up more during the spring evaluation period than the sharp-shooting 6-foot-4, 180-pound junior combo-guard prospect Alem Huseinovic.  After a strong performance during his junior season, where he helped lead Chaparral High School to a 6A State Championship runner-up performance, Huseinovic saw his college recruitment rise to completely another level while playing for his club program. Recently, Huseinovic would give a big verbal commitment to a top-rated West program, while also deciding to change high school programs for his future.

The University of Nevada had a terrific showing this past college season under the leadership of former Head Coach Eric Musselman. Musselman left the program and took the Arkansas job, and now Steve Alford has taken over the program. Alford formerly coached UCLA.

After recently taking over Nevada, Alford has found his man in Huseinovic, as Nevada has received a big verbal commitment from the gifted shooter. The verbal pledge by Huseinovic to Nevada is a tremendous commitment and accomplishment by Huseinovic - a nice feather in the cap of the Powerhouse Hoops club program, who raised the level of Alem's recruitment immediately following the high school season.

As a result, Huseinovic has also decided to change high school programs, and has left the Chaparral basketball program, and now will attend a new prep program, created by Powerhouse Hoops. The new program will be known as PHH Prep or Powerhouse Hoops Prep, and will be a very talented program - taking over the previous Taylor Made Prep program. The program will also be loaded with top-rated prospects in the state, and will join the already very loaded list of prep schools in the state.

Huseinovic chose Nevada over another offer he received this spring from UC-Riverside.

Huseinovic had a very good junior season, while helping lead his high school program to a 22-8 overall record on the season.  He averaged 12.6 points and 3 assists per/game on the season, as Chaparral finished as state runner-ups for the 6A State Championship.

Alem is a very intriguing prospect that has a very good skill level and shoots the basketball with excellent range.  He is able to play both guard positions on the floor, and he competes hard on both ends of the court.  He could become a specialist at the division-I level, as a dedicated shooter for the Nevada program.

Congratulations to Huseinovic and his family on this tremendous accomplishment, and good luck to him in the future, from our staff here at Arizona Preps.

Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report:  Alem is a very intriguing prospect who is coming off a very good high school season, and is off to a strong start this club season.  Alem is a very skilled and high IQ player that matches that with good athleticism and size. Alem shoots the ball at a very high level, but is also very crafty when it comes to creating off the bounce or finishing at the rim. He can play on or off the ball but really excels off the ball, where he can cut and get to his spots on the floor, where he can get his shot off.  He competes hard on both ends of the floor and never takes plays off. A very good ball handler and passer that sees the floor very well and advances the basketball up the court to the openman. A good defender that competes hard. A fundamentally sound prospect. Could be a specialist as a shooter at the division-I level.
