Chaparral High School's sharp-shooting 6-foot-6 rising senior wing Alec Bryan had an excellent weekend for himself in this weekend's West Coast Elite Summer Kick-Off, despite overcoming serious recent adversity for himself.  Bryan shot the covering off the ball this weekend and with serious range, as his Powerhouse Hoops Schumaker team cruised to numerous victories in the event.

Last weekend, while preparing himself for a big July, Bryan worked out with his personal trainer, the now deceased Billy Knight.  Knight took his own life late last weekend, just hours after working out Alec in a gym.  Alec was very close to Knight and spoke with him often about basketball and life.  After such a tragic event, Bryan has bounced back quickly and showed no effects this weekend of such tragic circumstances.  Instead, he played his best basketball of his young high school career.

Standing 6-foot-6 in height, Bryan possesses excellent size and shoots the basketball with unlimited range and a quick release.  He shot a high percentage this weekend and stretched the defense a great deal once he got going.  Bryan also handles the basketball well and has good versatility as a result.  He can shoot over defenders on the wing and also has a good ability to post up smaller defenders.

Bryan should generate some serious interest this July for himself, since there are few players with his combination of size and shooting stroke.

Bryan began the July evaluation period while traveling to Ivy League Schools, and visiting such schools as Yale, Dartmouth, Princeton and Columbia.  He enjoyed his visits and gained a lot of attention from the staffs at each school.  Currently, Bryan is hearing from such programs as Nebraska-Omaha, Princeton, Darmouth and MIT.

Bryan is off to an excellent start this July, and will look to capitalize on his recent strong performance with a couple more strong performances this month.

Bryan is an excellent student and carries better than a 4.0 CUM GPA unweighted, and a 4.5 CUM GPA weighted, so he should have his choice of colleges at every academic level.
