The Southwest All-American Camp took place this past weekend @ Cortez High School over two days, and featured much of the state's top talent, as well as some top prospects from around the West. This year's second annual event was filled with major excitement after a successful event last year. I joined forces once again with Gregg Rosenberg of Rivals.com, one of the hardest working scouts in the country, to bring a better of version of this event in a second year. We also joined forces with Justin Vargas of Relentless to make this year's event second to none in Arizona.
The event was a major success with those that attended the event, as the players, fans, and also the scouts and media that attended each had nice things to say about the organization and overall performance of the event.
According to top-rated scout Frank Burlison (Burlison on Basketball.com), "Many props are in order for Gregg Rosenberg, Anthony Ray, Justin Vargas and the rest of the crew that had things humming along so well over two days. Anyone – be it within Arizona or any surrounding state – who turns down the opportunity to play in this thing each year better have a solid justification for saying “nope”."
This year's event was terrific and should only set up this annual event to be better and better in the future.
Our staff would like to thank each of the many scouts and media that attended this year's event and helped to make it a huge success. We would also like to thank the many staff and volunteers that helped to make this event possible. A special thanks to John Ortega and his many members of his Powerhouse Hoops' staff that also worked very hard to make this year's event possible.
We would also like to give a huge thanks to Justin Vargas and Relentless, as well as his many family and friends that were huge in making this year's event such a success.
We would also like to give a sincere thanks to Brian Galbreath and Cortez High School for allowing us to utilize their gyms and campus for this year's event, especially allowing us to move the venue the week of the event and making everything possible.
Events such as these require loads of hard work and support, and we especially want to give a tremendous thanks to each of the players that participated, parents that supported their family members playing in the event, coaches that coached in the event and club coaches and trainers that also helped to support this year's event.
A big thanks also to the many photographers and video contributors from this year's event, as well as Jason Fraser and Justin Allen for their great speeches at the event. We also appreciate Lawrence Cole for his hard work and warming up the players on Sunday morning.
I would also like to personally thank Gregg Rosenberg for his tremendous hard work and dedication to raising the level of basketball in the state. Rosenberg is one of the hardest working scouts in the business and, without his hard work and excellent energy for making this year's camp such a success, this event would definitely not have been possible - both years. We would also like to thank his lovely wife for all of her hard work as well, once again.
Our staff is very thankful for everyone's support of this year's event, and are already looking forward to making this event even bigger and better next summer!
